Doug had heard his girls laughing and had come to the door to investigate a bit, and then stayed and watched a bit of the Princess' tea party. It warmed his heart to see his girls so happy, how natural, warm and loving Autumn was with them, and how happy they all were. The girls tried so hard with their mother, but for whatever reason, and Doug would never understand, she was cold and distanced.

"A Prince?" Doug laughed. "Perhaps if there were some damsels in distress, but the only damsels I hear here, seem to be having a very good time!" He took a step and it was Megan who called out, "We are Daddy, but we would still like a Prince to join us...I think Princess Autumn agrees!" Autumn just smiled, and if Doug didn't no better, he might have thought his daughter was trying to fix her father up with the Nanny she had come to love. It is funny what goes through kids minds, and Doug wondered, if in her own little way, Megan was trying to do exactly that.

Doug came in and sat down on own of the little mini chairs, his knees almost hitting his chin! He grabbed an empty cup and brought it to his lips, "Mmmm, what excellent tea Princess Autumn, you are a most excellent chef!" His two little girls squealed in delight with his playing along, and they sat there and played make believe for several minutes. Finally Doug looked at his girls. "Okay princesses...go up and put on your royal bathing suits, your prince will go swimming with you in the palace pool for a bit, before he resumes his royal duties!"

Off the girls scampered and Doug looked at Autumn, "Thank you for making their lives happy again...you know this is how I thought their lives would be, and should be." He sat there thinking, something had been bothering him. "Why do you continue to work the other job...I don't like to think of you out alone at night...honestly I am probably even a bit jealous. She reached over grabbing his hand and squeezed it " Doug , you and the girls mean everything to me, the money is just for my savings, my future business ideas and honestly it is just something i do out of habit, its all i had before i came" she said softly and kissed his hand " I couldnt possibly take more money from you Doug .." she leaned in giving him a quick soft kiss " There is nothing for you to be jealous about" she said knowing Doug was possessive of her.

She wanted to tell him about what Jerry had threatened her with back in the store but she was certain Doug would confdont the vulgar man about it and the kelly would know what she did and then she'd never seen he or the girls again.

She looked at him seriously " Doug... there is no reason for you to be jealous, i dont feel anything for anyone but you" she said softly

Doug felt her take his hand and listened to every word. " Doug , you and the girls mean everything to me, the money is just for my savings, my future business ideas and honestly it is just something i do out of habit, its all i had before i came" she said softly and kissed his hand " I couldnt possibly take more money from you Doug .." she leaned in giving him a quick soft kiss " There is nothing for you to be jealous about"

There were a million things he was thinking but he wasn't sure how to explain it. She looked at him seriously " Doug... there is no reason for you to be jealous, i dont feel anything for anyone but you" Doug took both of her hands in his. He might scare her, but it was time to be honest.

"I hope that when you are thinking of your future, the girls and I are in it. I don't know exactly how we move ahead, but all I know is I don't want any future without you. I have fallen in love with you, and so have the girls. You don't know how much it bothers me to think of guys flirting with you and hitting on you, and you having to be nice to them. She styled their hair and carried Tammy down while holding Megans hand and paused for a second seeing Doug and Kelly were discussing something that looked serious. Kelly had come in to tell Doug that she needed to cram for her upcoming midterms and her study groups would be working until late into the night. Did Doug mind if she just stayed out by the University with a friend.

The truth was he didn't and was thrilled to have the freedom to have his house and time with Autumn and the girls without his wife. However, this was getting old, who were they kidding? Doug took a deep breath. "Kel, don't you think it is time to talk...I mean who are we kidding here, really?" Autumn wasnt sure what Doug and Kelly's conversation was about but whatever it was seemed serious and she was glad to have taken the girls to the poolhouse because she didnt want them to hear anything that was going on or be hurt she really did love the two kids.

Doug was just sitting there. They actually had been in love at one point, hadn't they? It was hard to remember. It had ended with the girls, which was so sad, as Doug considered them miracles. Kelly wouldn't ever say it, but the girls had felt like shackles to her, perhaps marriage had as well. He felt relief, but how would he break it to the girls?

He was just sitting there, he had seriously pondered a drink, but had resisted. He was just trying to regroup when Autumn came in. "Hey, Everything ok?" She said concerned He looked up at her, and smiled, it was good to see her face. "Yeah...my marriage is over...." He looked up at her, wondering what her reaction would be?

When your marriage ends, no matter what the reason, it is not the most secure moment in your life. He wondered for a minute if Autumn would be happy, sad or scared. Did she love him, or was part of the appeal that he was married and therefore safe from strings and attachments. "I mean there is more to come obviously, and I won't give up the girls...but it felt good to say it...to tell her...to tell you!"

Autumn gave a soft smile seeing Doug had looked relieved and not sad and then he looked up and said his marriage was over and she was stunned, she had felt sad for the girls of course but she was happy for him and that he was no longer under Kellys control anymore.

Doug felt vulnerable, there was no doubt about it. He had fallen in love with Autumn, but he was no fool. It was one thing for her to have feelings for him, when he was a fun dirty little secret and the fear of getting caught could not help but lend fuel to the fire.

It was amazing the sense of fear and dread he was feeling as he was about to toss his heart on th floor for her to kick. "But this isn't a game for me, or them. You are young, and this may be way more than you ever expected."

He took a deep breath. "I am in love with you, I think they are too, in fact I'm sure they are. That is a lot to take on. But I am about to end a marriage, where at one time she loved me very much, and now not at all. I can't go on with you, if you are not sure you want to. And I would not blame you if you weren't? But, I can't question if you are completely in love with me, want me like you would never want another...that is what I want. And the same thing...that you know you could love my girls, like they were your own...and when, if we had kids...you could love all of them equally. She sighed knowing it would be alot to talk to Doug about but she wanted him to be completely calm and trust her about her other job " Im quitting tonight... I know youre curious about what i do, and the job isnt the safest, but i need to you trust me that ive always protected myself working there and have done the basics of the job and worn the uniforms" she said and stopped wondering if Doug already had a clue of what she did and how he woukd react to her telling him, if she had felt ashamed of her dancing in the past but it had been the best job she could get before doing this one and it had been how she survived alone for years she just didnt want the man she loved thinking any different of her.

Doug, could not have asked for more from Autumn in how she responded to his being ready to end his marriage. She spoke sweetly, touching him and kissing him between the things she said.

After they split though her words about her job not being the safest bothered him. Doug had been in places like this before, but never frequented. He didn't like them. Doug had already seen to much of his neighbor and supposed friend, luckily he saw Autumn walking out, before she saw him. Doug had his eyes on Autumn's car and saw her pull out of the lot, but she was not headed toward their house, or at least it didn't appear so. With her gone, Doug spun on his heel and grabbed Jerry by the collar and pushed him back against one of the parked cars. "I'll tell you what my problem is dude! You and the fact you are harrassing my Nanny!" Doug balled his fingers into a fist, "Jerry, what in the hell have you been doing here....I know God damn well, there is already one restraint order against you, you were never to set foot inside of here again..."

Just then a Police officer came up and grabbed Doug's arm, "Do we have a problem here sir?" Doug turned to him and smiled, "I don't think so, or do we Jerry?"

Autumn drove with no destination in mind her eyes now full of tear and she had started crying scared frommthe experince , what wouod Jerry have done if he actually got to her, she was so gladl she decided not to dance anymore , the men who attended just seemed to get worse and Jerry was one of them.

After driving around for 20 minutes, she headed home looking a wreck, still in uniform and mascara stained tears on her cheeks. She carried the money to the greenhouse and stuffed it in the closet and wanted to forget her night.

She knew Jerry wouod tell now, she just wondered how Doug would react to whatbshe now formerly did. Would he think she did what other girls offered for more money? Or would he understand she had done it to support herself?

She ran her finger through her hair and sat on the couch and sighed and while she had her head down she heard the door open. At first she stood up to go to the bedroom. If she needed to hide but she was relieved and nervous seeing it was Doug who was standing in the doorframe.

Jerry waved the police officer off, and Doug waited for him to pull away before turning back to Jerry and landing as hard of a right hook on his jaw as he could do. "You are a fucking pig man, I never want to see you around me or anyone I care about again. And if I do...God help you!" Jerry looked into Doug's eyes and there was no mistaking the truth that lied there.

Doug headed home, he didn't know what exactly to do or say to Autumn. He did not understand why she hadn't told him the truth, not at the beginning, but eventually, and he also had do ask. He hated to, but if she had ever done anything sexual with a man for money, it didn't matter how much he loved her, he could not let her further impact his daughter's lives. That was a line he could not ever get over.

He pulled in and saw that Autumn was there. He killed the lights, hoping Kelly did not see, and he headed to her place. He knocked but heard no answer, so he opened the unlocked door. He was in love with this woman, but this was the moment of truth, he saw her there. "Hi...are you okay...can we talk?"

Autumns eyes welled up and she couldn't stop the tears that began to flow as he asked could they talk. She had been absolutely terrified after that encounter with Jerry but seeing Doug was more than welcome even though she was certain he knew what her other job was now from what she was wearing despite the ruined makeup from her crying.

She sniffled and grabbed something to cover up despite her and Doug making love plenty of times she didnt want him to see her like this or think any less of her for what she used to do to support herself.

She made her way over to the couch tears still flowing but silent she was just relieved it hadnt been their neighbor. She sat next to Doug unsure of where to start , holding her robe and looking at her hands, she was afraid to look in his eyes , afraid he would want her to leave now that he knew and she wouldnt blame him, she would understand, he was an amazing father before anything.

She held his hand head turned away slightly and held down " I- I'm sorry" she said softly and looked up into his eyes seeing the concern there and a little disappointment and wiping a bit of her tears "Im shaken up ...but im relieved its you... im glad seeing it was you at my door"

Doug's heart went out to Autumn, tears had her mascara running down her cheeks and it didn't appear as if they were stopping. He waited for her to sit down next to him and settle. This might be a long talk, he wanted to understand, he wanted to be supportive, but he hated thinking of her at a place like that, dealing with some of those men.

He pulled her into his arms and just held her before taking her hand again and looking into her eyes.

"Shaken up? Were you hurt at all? Tell me what happened, and what is going on?"

He needed to say more. "Autumn, you know or should know, I have fallen in love with you, but you have kept a big secret, please help me understand, why?"

He didn't know how to bring up the question that he had to know, had she ever had any sexual relationship with any of the customers there, gotten any of them off for money, or let them do anything to her? In or outside the club?

He also didn't know whether to tell her he had actually been there that night, he hoped she would just tell him the truth.

Autumn shook her head and he asked if she was hurt and asked her what happened " No , im okay i could've been... i was just scared.." she looked into his eyes as he told her he loved her and wanted to know why she kept the secret.

" Doug I- I jsut didnt want you looking at me like everyone else did once they knew what I did, I alwady had no home, i didnt know if you could handle the fact that i was an entertainer and bartender as well" she saw the expression in his face and held his hand " No i ve never been sexual or intimate with men in that club, ive always known better , i danced and bartended to support myself thats it, id crash at hotels during the winter and fall when it was too cold and spent summers and warm days in my car, there was a time or twomid crash with friends but the minute anything inappropriate happened or i was uncomfortable id leave." She said and looked away for a second " It wasnt something i was exactly proud of doing baby.."

She looked toward the door for a second eyes welling up again and was contemplating whether or not to tell him about Jerry and she knew she should " Your neighbor... the one we met in the store...Hes been stalking me..blackmailimg me.." she said and looked down at her hands " he found out ant threatened to tell you and Kelly and he wanted me to sleep with him pretty much tried to blackmail and force me to and i refused... i left early tonight, got out of there as fast as i could... he wouldnt take no for an answer and i was so scared he was pretty much chasing me out of the club i was scared he was going to hurt me.. or worse.." she said tears flowing freely

Her hands shook a little and she looked at him " Ive heard about men like him who preyed on dancers at the club and i was terrified hed do something awful and id never see you or the girls again.. i drove around for a bit before i realized he wasnt following and once i felt safe enough i came back here"she said and sighed wondering what Doug thought about all of this, she just hoped he didnt look at her any differently.

Doug listened carefully, and waited until he finished. He wanted to tell her the truth. "Autumn, for the first time I followed you tonight, I wanted to protect you as you made me think you were worried. And, I have to tell you, I was really shocked, I just never thought of you being in front of men like that. But I think I do understand how you started and how you survived."

He put his hand on her back comforting her, "I saw Jerry, but waited, I wasn't sure what he was doing there, and I guess I had to make sure he wasn't invited or welcome. I hated how those men handled you or tried to, I mean you took care of if, but dang, no man has a right to touch you like that, unless you want him to, and I hope the only one you want touching you is me!" he stopped and looked into her eyes.

I heard what you said, but please, be honest. "Have you ever considered helping any of the men enjoy themselves, you know...cum? Has any of this ever turned you on, did you ever want more?" He held his breath.

"I was waiting for Jerry when he came out, he is a pig...." He laughed, "I think I broke his jaw, and I took a picture, if he ever comes after you he is going to jail for a long time, he broke a court order, he is not allowed in that place, you aren't the first dancer he stalked!"

He cradled her chin in his hand, "I just don't understand, why, once you got this job you didn't quit, why did you keep going back there, didn't you trust me, didn't you know that I would take care of you, that I would never want to have you be in a place like that?...Did you think of me while you were there?"

He loved her so much, but it was as if she hadn't trusted him, or he and the girls hadn't been enough to make her want to leave all that behind her. He had to know that she had no desire for any aspect of that life, none at all!
