The Song of Swords

Bryant

OOC: I've been holding my posts until lethe could reply to mine but... it has been a couple days.

IC:

Bryant looked up at the warhorse with some measure at awe. He'd gained the utmost respect for animals like these, for their regal temperment when at tournaments or even walking through the town, if not for their sheer size and strength. He gained his feet slowly, so as not to spook him, and takes a slow look around. Hmm...So that must be the horses rider...

Bryant holds his hands out in front of him, palms forward. "Easy there fella, just gonna get my sword there, thats all, easy fella." Probably taking more precaution than necessary, seeing as this is a warhorse...but too much is never enough right? He slowly crouches and picks up the sword in scabbard, and straightens once more.

Darios

OOC: I don't know where Lethe is, but I hope he's still there...?

IC: I looked the man up and down. He didn't seem to be evil, and he spoke charismatically... but not everything was always what it seemed.
"So you are heading our way... milady, do you think we can trust him?" I asked, keeping an eye on the newcomer.

Elik

If you allow me to travel with you, I give you my word I will not burden you. I have my own steed and provisions. I am just very cautious about travelling alone. I figured if you were going the same way, I could use the company.

I nudge Whitefire to step closer, not sure if she'll listen to me. She does move a few steps.

"He seems ok. I s'pose we can trust him." I say, looking down on the stranger from Whitefire's back. "Tell me your name stranger and I might tell you mine."

"I am called Elik my fair lady. I have many talents which you may find useful in your travels." Elik makes a quick gesture with his hands, and in a puff of purplish blue smoke, a magical steed appears.

I nod slowly.

"Nice trick." I say as I see the horse, "but can you locate and transport a specific animal?"

I flash a coy smile, as I try to test his abilities.

Grinning slyly Elik says "Anything in particular you'd like?" With that Elik closes his eyes and begins chanting in the arcane language while making hand gestures. In a bright flash of light a woman who was once poised in a tree appears, and slumps to the ground. "How's that?" Elik asks.

I smile.

"Well done. However, I was thinking along the lines of a specific horse. A stallion, chesnut in color, black mane and tail, no markings, named Velkryn..." I trail off as I think about him

I gaze into the distance for a brief moment and then to the confused woman on the ground.

"Think you can do it, Elik?"

Pausing momentarily in thought, Elik snaps his fingers and exlaims "Yes! It can be done! However, locating the beast first, and then telporting him here would require a lot of energy. Will it guarantee the company of you and your male friend?"

"I believe you will have to ask him." I say with a smile, though still wary of the mage.

I look again to the woman on the ground.

"Are you ok? You seem a bit confused." I say to her.

Looking up at the broad shouldered man Elik quizzically asks "Do I have your permission to accompany you on your journey?"

Illynya blinks and stares at the strangers, what the hell. Standing up and brushed herself off "I don't know who you people are but I would appreciate it if you would send me back, I was in the middle of something and I don't appreciate being transported " her anger shows as she glares at everyone angry at being taken away from that strange man.

Startled and disturbed by the woman's tone of voice, Elik quicky motions with his hands, and in a cloud of smoke, she is gone. Back to where she came from, she lands with a thud on a branch.

I barely manage to hold back a giggle as I see the woman's reaction. "Odd one." I think to myself.

"I'd hate to see what she may do if you did something like that again." I say with a smile.

Elik chuckles softly, as the woman disappears in a cloud of smoke, and turns to the lady upon the horse. "You think that's bad. Wait till you hear her screaming after she gets back to her tree," he says.

"Oh my. I'm sure that will be interesting." I say with a light chuckle, "I suppose I can tell you who I am. I am Princess Mirshann."

I adjust my seating on the horse slightly and pat her neck.

"So, about my request..." I let my words trail off

"A pleasure to meet you M'lady," Elik says. "About your horse...yes, yes....." he pauses. Scratching his chin softly, Elik ponders. "As a kind gesture, I shall grant your request." With that, Elik closes his eyes and begins to mutter in the arcane language, the only decypherable word uttered from his lips is Velkryn. After a minute or so of chanting and waving his hands around in the air methodically, Elik finally raises his hands towards the sky. In a blinding flash of light and a loud boom, the cries of a horse can be heard. A second later, the magnificent steed materializes before Mirshann.

Elik, drained momentarily from the powerful spell, slumps to the ground.

Darios

OOC: Sorry, the last post was an accident...

IC: Darios narrowed his eyes and rubbed the stubble on his chin as he contemplated the man's offer. It seemed that he was even willing to exhaust himself for their company... whether it was simply because of what he had said, or if he had a different reason, Darios was not sure. For one thing, it was stupid of the princess to reveal her identity.
"Okay, Elik. You may accompany us... BUT - should you make a move against either myself or milady, I will have no objections to cutting you open." I said, touching my sword, which now hung by my side, to prove my point. "I have dealt with sorcerors before, and I am not afraid." I finished, looking at Velkryn. If he had the power to do that... well, his strength was beyond any sorceror's I had killed.
"Now, milady, I assume you would like to ride Velkryn..." I said, but when I turned I noticed she was already off Whitefire and petting her own horse.
"... Oh... well, let us be off then. Stay by my side, milady. Elik, I cannot say I trust you yet: I would request that you ride a few yards ahead, so I can see you at all times." I said, mounting my own horse.

With a smile, Elik, jumped up on his magical steed, and took a pace in front of the two adventurers. "Thank you kind sir. It is an honour to ride with you," he said matter of factly. With that, he spurred his horse on at a cantering speed. Sensing the nervousness of the warrior, he started to hum, and casted a cantrip spell, which enabled him to juggle 4 bright balls that shifted in color at each touch of the hand.

OOC: Heya, sorry about going AWOL. Btw; I'm confused, I'd assumed that Morn, Bryant and Ilynya were in a different area (maybe fifty miles away) to Mirshann, Elik and Darios. If someone could clear that up for me (DarkWarrior?)...

Morn stirred and leapt to his feet with cold, fluid grace at the snort from Beggar's Wish. His dagger flexed into his hands like a live thing.

A startled peasant lad met his gaze, backing away nervously from the equally startled horse.

Some of the tension in Morn relaxed, although an edge remained.

'Who are you, boy?'

OOC: I could be mistaken, but in the first post from Illyna, I was under the impression she was watching what was going on with Dark. My mistake? If so, then it'd be some unknown person that Elik transported.

I leap off Whitefire as soon as I recover from the shock of Elik's sucsessful spell. I run over to him and stroke his neck, assuring him and attempting to settle him. Once he was calmed, I leaped to his back, settling myself comfortably.

"Thank you Elik." I call to him as he spurs his horse ahead.

I give Velkryn a nudge and he falls into place next to Whitefire.

Bryant

OOC: hmm, I had thought she was watching Morn and I, and also thought that the princess and dark warrior were only a mile or so away at most. Makes no difference to me though.

"My name is Bryant, Sir. And you are?"

Bryant squares his shoulders to the man he is addressing, holding the sword in his left hand. His arm comes up, and he wipes away a sheen of sweat from his brow with the back of his hand.
