(PART FOUR)
1pm'ish......we arrive at the reception.....everyone either
took their own cars or carpooled w/ others to get there....
the lucky bride and groom arrived shortly after in the
limo.......
The reception was held at a place called Amarante's Sea
Cliff in New Haven, overlooking the water. Mind you, it
had NOT rained up to this point, which was a good thing.
Cocktail hour time was out on the deck, but I didn't even
get to enjoy it as the bridal party was called down for
pix by the gazebo......HOWEVER, something got screwed
up somehow, and we all had to go all the way back up the
stairs to the deck, and over to the next building, which is
where the reception was. (We didn't do pix until AFTER
the main course...so which meant, I couldn't take off
those damned shoes!!) Anyhow, the dj announced the
members of the bridal party, and then the bride and
groom.......bride and groom dance their first dance together
as hubby and wife......."Thank You" by Dido.....and then
the bridal party danced to another song, which right now
slips my mind. I danced w/ one of the groomsmen who
graduated high school w/ me and my friend the bride, so
that was cool.
The time flew by quickly.......things seemed to be rushed
as many of us had arrived late......but first course was a
baby green salad w/ a slice of proscitto (sp?), melon on
the side.....I barely ate the salad as I was so afraid I get
the dressing on my dress! Oh shoot...I forgot!!! The
CHAMPAGNE toast!! We each got a bit of champagne w/
a blueberry floating in it, and it was really good!! As the
first course was being served, the waitstaff came around
w/ a choice of white or red wine......I love red....
Second course I didn't even get to have as I was dancing
my pants off w/ my date......it was a lemon sorbet I think.....
The main course was a choice of chicken marsala, or surf
and turf, which was filet mignon and shrimp.....I had the
surf n' turf, which was real good........
Before main course, the DJ was real good w/ getting a lot
of people up on the floor for different dances, such as the
Tarantella, Hava Nagila (yay!!), Mexican hat dance, etc....and
that was a lot of fun. However, my friend the bride couldn't
do that because no one had fixed the bustle in the back of
her dress, so she could dance w/ out tripping over the gown.
Luckily her mom or somebody was able to get it fixed fine.
Soft music played during the main course, such as songs by
Josh Groban (my mom would have loved it if she were there!
Understand, my parents had been invited but they had already
been scheduled for their cruise since February--they left
Saturday morning).
More dancing of course.....mingling by the bride and groom to
as many tables as possible....so hard to get to everybody!
Then father and daughter dance......"Unforgettable" by Natalie
Cole (my friend had been undecided on what song for that
dance). Then it was the mother and son dance........"What
A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.
