.I've read it more times than I can remember. It has come to haunt me a little over the years.... I adore it, but then, I was never forced to study it and maybe therein lies the key![]()
I think that it may well be. Have you read Wide Sargasso Sea incidentally?
Nah, everyone would fall asleep reading it.
I had to read it for GCSE, and I wasn't thrilled. I understand better now that I'm older, but it still wouldn't get into my favourite list.
Yes, I have it... I was forced to study it alongside postcolonial and feminist theoryand yes, that was as awful as it sounds
I can appreciate it as a brave work but didn't really enjoy it. As a story, part of the allure of Jane Eyre is the mystery surrounding Bertha -- I didn't really want it explaining to me... but that's just my reaction to it.
Is this where you disagree and tell me how brilliant it is?
I thought the "GCSE" change (as opposed to O-levels) was more recent. Or do I have my dates/ your age wrong???

Nope, I wasn't a fan of Wide Sargasso Sea either, but there was a reasonable television adaptation of it not so long ago.
I've studied postcolonial and feminist theories of geography, and that was pretty boring, so I empathise.
GCSEs were introduced in 1988.

Never saw the TV version. Yet another thing my grinchly self is not a fan of..... TV and film adaptations....not many stand up to the stories.
Nor do I like geography much.
Cake, however...![]()

? I thought that the most recent BBC one was pretty good.
), but human geography is terminally tedious.
.I take it you're not a fan of all the Jane Eyre adaptations in that case? I thought that the most recent BBC one was pretty good.
I like physical geography (no double entendre intended), but human geography is terminally tedious.
You want cake? I have cake; still with chocolate too.

Ok, THAT is among the few that stand up to my immensely picky set of criteria![]()
