Ugh I KNOW this feeling too well. I have fallen behind with my required reading massively over the last few weeks, because I had to do the same and just escape a while.

Shall have a think...if we find something you enjoy and works, it will be all the glitter I need :) :kiss:

I don't know anything about what you've read and what you like, but here are a few books I recommend.

Jack McDevitt: I loved his Academy Series (start with Engines of God, although you can read them in any order, it's probably better to read them in order).
I'm also fond of his Alex Benedict Series, but Polaris was my favorite (2nd or 3rd, order doesn't really matter in this series).
His book Ancient Shores is really nice and stand alone if you don't want to commit to a series.

Ben Bova is another favorite author. As is Kim Stanley Robinson (Try the Red/Green/Blue Mars trilogy).

If you haven't read Mary Roach, you should. It's non-fiction, but sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Boink is a hilarious. Stiff and Packing for Mars.

I hope you find something to enjoy.

Did you ever read any Ben Okri? The Famished Road is sublime.
Tim o Brien's The Things They Carried...was required reading for me, but SO glad it was
Antoine De Saint-Exupery The Little Prince might be a winner, esp if you like Tao of Pooh
Markus Zusak, The Book Thief, simply because I foist that upon everyone!
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude
V.S. Naipaul A House for Mr Biswas
Anything by Philip Pullman, the Dark Materials trilogy is great but so are his shorter stories
Elizabeth Kostova, The Historian...thinking about it, this is really worth a try, it's a great page turner
Hilary Mantel, Wolf Hall is a must if you like historical fiction (the follow up Bring up the Bodies I haven't got to yet)
Susanna Clarke, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell...bit of a gamble and definitely not for everyone but I loved it
Sebastian Faulks, Birdsong, a really easy read and poignant

I had a feeling MrStrange wouldn't work.

The train ride went smoothly, getting back home is lovely, tomorrow is Friday. All is well :)
