The Vampire's Pain

Very long ago there was a vampire who terrorized town after town in 14th century Europe. This vampire came to have gained a rather large reputation over about a decade, not good for a vampire to be known. Eventually hunting parties for him became very common. He was forced to move from country to country and soon even most vampires wanted him dead. Then one spring he disappeared without a trace, most say he was finally slain. The truth was he was slain in a sense, he had found a human that he couldn't harm. The human a lady of little wealth but tremendous beauty. The vampire believed he had finally found it within him to love, and love this woman he did with great passion. The beauty had tamed the beast as he soon quit is endless killings and married her. Assuming a new identity and settling down with her he wasn't heard of again. Two and a half decades they spent with each other and she remained human. When she became deathly ill one winter he begged her to let him change her but she refused saying it was her time. Then on her deathbed he came to her while sleeping and sunk his teeth into her. She awoke as a vampire days later and was furious towards him. Over time her anger died but so did the rest of her emotions. Only six months after her change on a bright morning day she walked to the large wooden shudders on the window said goodbye and opened them wide. The vampire had never known the true meaning of pain before that day.

Now in present day Glasgow the vampires latest alias is Matthew Zimmer. He had kept a rather low profile through the centuries and even did his best to find only the foulest sort for his meals. He hadn't hurt any innocents since his days before his love. His hair was his natural black but was now cut short and modern. Lots of overcast aloud him some days out for up to a few hours. He has even joined a neighborhood watch to help explain his comings and goings at night. Crime rate in the city had gone down partly because of the shortage of criminals. Now stalking the higher rooftops he listened for the scum bag that would be his next victim/meal. Then he heard a scream coming from down an ally to his right, a woman's scream. As he got to the rooftop over looking the ally he caught a scent that was familiar. Memories of his old love came flooding back to him he had pushed them from his thoughts some time ago.

Raven was on her way home from work as she shut down tue rest of the lights in the building was locked up tight she gathered her things and started on her way home. Raven pulled back her purple streeked hair in to a ponytail and locked the front door. Looking up she saw the moon high in the sky. Smileing she began walking down the busy main street. Raven was about 5'9 so she really had no problem seeing over the people that were around her walking. After makeing a stop in a local book store and Resturant and haveing a nice dinner she bought a few books and exited. Turning down the ally way to get to the street with the subway station on it she was about halfway to the other side when she suddenly felt a hand shove her to the wall. In front of her stood two men the one pining her in this dark part othe ally just out of veiw of both streets. "What d-do you want" the other male laughed and sneered "Of you know what,we want and your going to give it to us. The 19 year old girl was shakeing her body huged the wal as she loomed between them and then screamed hopeing some one would aid her. But the only reslut she could see was the one pinning her rear back and slap her across the face. She was stuned as her head hit the brick wall she couldent see right anymore as she felt them ripping of her clothing. "No s-sstop!"

Matthew looked over the edge of the roof in time to see a young girls head hit the wall, two men had her trapped and a third was approaching from some shadows behind a dumpster. The girl definitely smelled familiar it didn't matter either way Matt wasn't about to let these guys touch her again. He leaped from the ledge in the direction of the third man. Falling at least six stories he landed hard the the mans head and heard a loud crunching snap as he crumpled underneath him. The other guys looked over just in time to see their friend on the ground and a shadow scrambling up the fire escape. Matt dove from the railing strait towards them he let out a snarl as he got a hand around both of their necks. He kept his momentum and slammed their heads against the pavement. He stopped himself from sinking his teeth in the one that hadn't died on impact and looked up to the girl shivering with tears and fear in her eyes. He composed himself as best as possible and stood before. He was without words she had a striking resemblance to his lost love aside from the purple in her hair. "Are you o.k?" He finally let out.

Ravens vision cleared and she saw man standing before her she noticed that he wasn’t one of the ones who attacked her. His voice was gentler and kind. She nodded as he asked her if she was alright using the wall to stand up she leaned there for a moment rubbing the bump on the back of her head and groaning. “Ouch that shit hurts” she looked over to her savior and smiled politely “Thank you for your help sir” she looked at her clothes and sighted there wasn’t too much damage to them. Pulling her pants back up over her rump and hips she tried to straiten her shirt. Her hands were shaky and she was unnerved by this but she was trying not to fall to pieces right there in the ally way. Pulling out her cell phone she looks at the time and curses she had just missed the train and would have to wait another hour. Looking up to the male for the first time taking in his features she smiled and held out her still slightly trembling hand to him “My name is Raven LaLune my friends call me Rave.” After shaking his rater cool hand she picked up her things “Im am on my way to the coffee shop would you like to join me it’s the least I can do for you.” she smiled again and waited for a reply.

"I'm glad to hear your all right, I realize how traumatizing this must be for you." He looked around and then down to the one that still lived out of the three. He was lying there slipping in and out of consciousness blood dripping from the back of his skull. Matt wanted nothing more than to sink his fangs in the man and finish him off, at least to put him out of his misery. He didn't want to make this night any worse for the girl though so he fought the urge. "You look cold and your gonna be feeling some shock set in soon so lets say we go for that coffee now. As for these guys how about we call in an anonymous tip of a gang fight gone bad no need to involve yourself and waste the rest of your night with the cops." He smiled and winked at her. "Come now lets get you out of the cold shall we?" He held his hand out for her to take.

Raven looked at the mans hand and then smiled lifting her hand she took her hand and reaching in her pocket she she handed him the phone so he could make the call. Walking to the end of the street she looked both ways and began walking down the street as she listened to the male talk on the phone to the police. Waiting at the light for the cross walk sign she let go of his hand feeling a bit silly for holding his hand. True she she was shaken up but for some reason it was not too bad. Raven saw the Light blink in big letter WALK. Quickly she crossed the street and waited o him before entering the coffee shop. The sweet aroma hit her like a sack of bricks and she smiled she had always loved the smell of coffee ever since she was little and her father had given her some of his. Picking a table by the warm fire place she sat down and waited for the waitress.

"Thank you for helping me By the way order anything you like." She told him and ordered her self a iced coffee a vanilla caramel cappuccino and a blue berry scone and removed her jacket.

"Nothing for me thanks." Matt said as he waved his hand at the waitress. He stared in to her eyes for a long moment that brought back just as many memories as her scent, before finally saying. "The pleasure of your company is all I would ask from you. I hope you can afford the time to stay and talk awhile." He knew this diner well he had often come in here to order breakfast to go on the days dark enough to go out. He hadn't ever eaten here or tried the food of course but he came in regularly anyway to keep up his ruse of being your average human. He usually gave his food to George the resident-al hobo from his neighborhood. Joe and Sally the owners of the diner were never going to let up on him after seeing him with a beautiful young women for the first time since he moved here nine years ago. "So what do you do for a living that has you walking dark ally's at night?"

"The pleasure of your company is all I would ask from you. I hope you can afford the time to stay and talk awhile." She heard him say as she set her bag down on the floor and fixed her shoe. "Oh nothing i was just working late at the shop and i was taking a short cut like always. Except most of the time im walking through there during the day and my friend normally meets me" She smiled as her food arrived and she took a sip of the vanilla and continued "You see i just moved here from Florida to help with my friends shop. So i haven't been here long." as she ate her scone she watched him watching her. Every so often she smiled "Im just glad you came along and were brave enough to save me when you did or I might be dead right about now or brutally raped" She laughed a bit and finished her hot drink and about half her scone. "So what is your name id like to know who saved me"

"Ah yes where are my manners." He held his hand out over the table. "The names Matthew Zimmer." She took his hand to shake and he brought it up and placed a light kiss on the back of her hand. "Thoughs guys had what was coming to them for some time and they got what they deserved. I believe everyone gets what they deserve eventually and you didn't deserve what they had planned for you what so ever." He smiled watching her eat he missed food sometimes, sure he could still taste things but it was never satisfying. "And your name is?"

"My name is Marissa LaLune. Its a pleasure to meet you Matthew." She said as she finished the food she ordered and started on her iced coffee. Marissa looked him over in slow detail. He was very handsome. She continued to talk late in to the night with him until an older woman came over and told them that they were closing. Marissa payed her tab and gathered up her things as she walked to the door with Matt. "I have to go now. I appreciate your company this evening. I had a wonderful time after that...Ordeal" She smiled and stepped out in to the street with him as she walked to the entrance of the subway with him and turned back giving him a small wave "Ill see you around Matthew" The stepped on to the escalator and rode it down in to the sub way and waited on the platform for her train. Marissa stepped on to the train and rode it out about four stops and got off walking up the steps she then crossed the street to her home and pushed her key into the door and stepped inside shutting the door. Marissa flipped on the lights and set her things down and flopped on to the couch she sighed.
