So, has anyone heard from LadyC in the very recent past? I would love to know if her arm is getting better, but I don't want to force her to type, or have her husband spend his time answering me. So I was wondering if anyone has heard if she's doing better and would like to share it with me.

Sooo, apparently LadyC came to check on the EF, and she saw what I wrote and sent me a PM (she better not have written it herself )

Anyway, she asked me to tell everyone that she misses them. She is not recovering too well - the pain started in her other arm now as well - and I'm sure she would appreciate any well-wishes sent her way via PM (make sure to tell her she doesn't have to reply - that woman needs to not type! )

My youngest cat won't stop peeing on things. I wanted to get her on stress medication, but the vet is trying to make me get all of these tests that I'm not sure I want to put her through just yet. It's really aggravating, so we've left that vet, and are now vetless (but still searching for a new one).

Trying to spend more time with my friends. I have this really horrible habit of trying to freeze them out. I forget that they love me for who I am, and don't judge based on what they see or hear. This isn't highschool anymore (and hasn't been for almost 5 years), but why don't I feel like an adult?

Reading LadyC's post brings me to thoughts of my niece. For the first 3 years of her life she had a lot of medical problems. But test after test, hospital stay after hospital stay, even feeding her via a tube in your stomache, and still nothing. It cleared up just last year, but we're still very suspicious of Hep C and still pretty pissed that the doctors didn't test her for it.

Having thoughts (as all people about to get married do, I'm sure) about whether getting married is the right decision. Am I ready for it? Am I ready to leave out the opportunity to be with someone else? Am I going to feel like it's forever, and will that leave me feeling happy, satisfied, or trapped?

My sexuality. Oh, god, my sexuality. I'll leave that at that.

LadyC, my heart goes out to you, your daughter, and the rest of your family. I know this is a really scary time for you, and I won't even begin to try to tell you not to worry (as we both know, when it comes to a loved one, that's just not possible). But your daughter is in my thoughts and my heart, and I hope she comes through this stronger and braver, and healthy again. <3

I wish she was my ex-girlfriend, but she isn't, even though she's walked out on me a dozen times. But in June 2004 she discovered that I surfed porno sites and just about burst a blood vessel in rage. So I erased everything and told people I wouldn't be posting any stories.

Obviously, I didn't keep to that promise. On March 12, through informants (the same way, although not the same people, as before) she found out that I was back on the porn sites. (I had replied to a Yahoo! Personals message from one of her acquaintances, not realizing who the woman was.) The didn't go into a screaming-maniac fit then, but she had done it three times in three previous days (because I had left town to take a job and had failed to "check in" with her on a regular basis). Instead, she coldly refuted every argument I could make against porno being destructive, adulterous, and just plain sick. I never specifically told her about the porn sites, except that I wrote and edited for Literotica.

Since then, she has offered to take away my computer and Internet connections, to have me hospitalized for addiction, and literally to send me to every psychiatrist in town, and I haven't read all her Weblinks yet. She is acting like a demented version of Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the utterly-despised (by me, at any rate) pseudo-psychologist who claims that all mental illness can be linked to moral failings. And demented isn't too strong a word if you have seen this lady throwing a fit.

LadyCibelle already knows about this woman and has discussed the situation with me in very specific terms. But I would appreciate input from other people on the subject in general. How destructive/addictive is porn? Should it all be banned? How do you define it? Do you take, say, Judy Blume's classic Forever and shove it down Blume's throat because it depicts sexual behavior among teenagers (who are under age 18 during much of the story) and shows a devastating breakup? I for one have had serious problems with the book because of that. What about cable TV, R-rated movies and mainstream media showing sex? Theoretically at least, ANY description of sexual activity could be porn. As overboard as that sounds, it is very difficult to draw a line down the middle of the literary world and say what's pornographic and what isn't. Theoretically, it makes more sense to censor any mention of sexual activity or anything in the least bit titillating than to try to pigeonhole stories/depictions/activities according to their content. (It works the other way too -- is a story automatically bad because it DOESN"T have strong language, sexual behavior, violence, et cetera? A lot of "clean" books and movies are harshly criticized for being of poor quality because they are unrealistic.)

Would like input on this ... LadyCibelle, if you see this, let me know if it should be in a separate thread. In the meantime, I guess I'm not writing anymore erotica (again) and will try to figure out which way to go with my life.

I've always held the argument that nudity, sexuality, and anything denoted from those is not necessarily sick. There's a fine, gray (and somewhat dodgy line), but we all need to draw that line within ourselves. I believe it's all linked to morality. The problem I have with Dr. Laura is that she believes that anything that falls out of her moral radar is considered immoral (Ex: Divorce, although I find it funny that she's not only divorced, but also estranged from her family). I've always been brought up thinking that I have a relationship with whomever I believe in, and that I am the only judge of my character.

Althought I'm sure my father is in great disagreeance of the things I say or do, he defends the my right and freedom to do it. He has also the capacity to realize that he is from a much older generation that had a different political and moral structure. And for this, I love him for teaching me the same.

I'm not going to say your girlfriend is an abuser or that you have to leave her, etc... Because no one can tell you to do those things. Only you can. And you will if and when you're ready.

I can say, though, that I hope you don't stop your creative flow on the basis of someone else. The freedom of speech is one of the most powerful tools if you know how to use it. And based on some of your posts and writings, you use it to your maximum capability. Don't freeze out the rest of the world from your talent and personality based on the opinion of one other person.

Be you. That's the best that anyone can hope for in this world. We have so many people trying to fit in to the norm of what is and what isn't. They're so strongly commited to the box that encompasses them, they have no hope. I can only hope that you don't allow others to drag you in to their personal social boxes.

Good luck on this one, and I'm sure you'll do what's right for you. Now, to go follow my own advice It's always easier said than done, right?

Wow, it hurts to feel the rage and anguish of those who are going through such difficult times. LadyC I'm so sorry. My brother went through and is still going through something similar with his daughter/my niece. She's 22 now, it started when she was about 15, with vomiting, dizziness, and exhaustion. She's had more brain stem surgeries than I have fingers (I have the obligatory 10). This poor girl can barely get out of bed. One parent or the other is constantly watching her. She's in the prime of her life and all she knows is misery, but she thanks the good Lord on the days she can manage to stand. What kind of bravery is that !!!???

LadyC, kbate, and others, I have such a huge amount of respect for you. I've done editing and I would so much rather be writing. And maybe that's what I'm wired for, despite my well-meaning (guilt-driven) reaching out to help. kbate, you may be a struggling 4.6 writer, but if there was a rating for editors you'd be a kick-ass 5.00. And I was serious about teaming up to write if you'd ever consider it (we can fight about whose name goes first later - LOL)

Its hard to find a good doctor nowadays, because a lot of them are tired, semingly overworked and usually quite moody. I've left the doctors feeling like i've been mugged off in the past, they laugh off or dismiss anything you can't explain to them or that they cannot identify

We'll you know what. You are kinda right. It is and was syncope. No doctor have been able to explain how it could happen to a 15 yo though. They all thought it was some kind of mental or psychosomatic illness......the jury is still out on this one.

Since we moved those episodes occured less and less...now they're down to once or twice a month when my daughter is really stressed out, very angry or very sad....so it could very may be stress related as the doctor say.

Anyway, at least she's now living a more functional life and is back to school, which she hadn't been for a full year, so everybody's happy.
