Congratulations to Lily who now owns both Where-am-I and Who-am-I crowns :rose:

And now, the hardest part: find two new riddles

And now, the hardest part: find two new riddles

Why are you a dishwasher?

A pink one, at that?

*smile* It's a long story... A private joke, actually. As you will certainly have noticed, in "private joke", there's "private", so...

But I can nevertheless tell you that since a few weeks, I can't look at a dishwasher, pink or otherwise, without smiling.

Yes, I'm a lavastovigliophile...

No new riddle? Since Queen Lily is more or less busy with her Who-am-I kindom... Maybe I could be King par interim?

Please do...
Because Her Highness has a headache. (Unintended, but amusing alliteration).

The Who-Am-I riddle is stressing me.

Merci, HRM

~LB

Kindly bringing HRH Lily a crystal tumbler of water and aspirin - on a silver tray...

Thank you, Your Majesty....
(although, since your Who am I clue has been solved....)

This village looks like many, many others... all over Europe... But it shares with only one other place in the world a special title usually awarded to individuals.

I have no idea.

But Her Majesty is quite grateful for the aspirin. The crystal tumbler and silver tray being a very nice touch.

You know how it goes... when everyday life's all Styrofoam cups and plastic trays, it does no harm to hand virtual crystal tumblers and silver trays...

But back to our riddle.

The inhabitants of this village did the right thing, some 60 years back. In a time when it wasn't that easy to do the right thing.

The village pictured here clearly is not in the American Midwest, where such hills are simply not found. That said, this un-worldly traveler has no flipping idea what its identity might be.

Good luck to all the rest of you on this one.

And, dear LB, are we still fantasizing about being a queen? You do know that history has not been overly kind to queens on the whole, right? Marie Antoinette and all that. :p

I just hate to contradict you, dear MWY, but as i stated a few posts above, this village is clearly not in the American Midwest. Should it be, it would have ... wait. gone? went? sorry, but I'm a bit lost here... I think it should have went unnoticed. It should have been unnoticed? should have gone unnoticed? Blame it on Bushmills. *sigh*
Anyway.... If this village was say, anywhere outside Europe.... and that's Europe some 60 years ago... there would have been no reason to notice. Quite a few fellows believers in one of the 3 major monotheist religions were pretty safe outside Europe some 60 years ago.

Sorry, Your Majesty... can I be as bold and borrow the aspirin I just handed you?

From the clues, I'd say a knowledge of WWII history is required to get this one right.

There's a village on Israel's list of the Righteous Among Nations. I don't remember the name, but I do remember being surprised, when I heard about this place, to learn that it was located in France.

You're narrowing it down, JMohegan.

Can I ask why it surprised you that it was in France? I'm well aware that the general behavior of my fellow countrymen wasn't something to be especially proud of, but still... All didn't bid their vows to the Nazi regime.

Is it Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, which was recognized as "Righteous Among the Nations" in 1990, for harbouring Jews during WWII?

Very good, Keroin, very good indeed :rose:

Your turn now...

Thanks. Um, now I'll have to go read the rules about what I'm supposed to do - I've never played here before.

(Love the new sig line. Remember the restraining order is still in effect, though.)

France.

Denmark.

Let's just say I wouldn't have been surprised, had the village been located in the latter.

Oh, the rules are pretty easy: You select a place, post a picture of it and give 3 clues for the other gamers to solve your riddle. After a day or two, if no one found the right answer, add a clue or two. And so on until someone finds the answer.

Restraining order? I've never heard of a restraining order. Or maybe I should have read the fine print at the end of the contract?

I don't see what your point is, comparing France to Denmark.
To quote the article you linked to:

"More than three-quarters of the Jews who resided or had found refuge in France in 1939 managed to survive. This high survival rate was due to many factors, including dispersal of Jews in many localities, a minimal German police presence, and assistance from some non-Jews."

Ojo de Liebre, Guerreo Negro and San Ignacio Bays are all Whale Refuge Bays in El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve. I'm guessing you're only looking for one of those names. I'll be back once I have blabbered through a meeting and have maybe a tiny bit time for some serious googling. :)

Yep, this is a specific location.
