The Wild West (Closed)

"I've always got my iron," Angel said with a smirk as she patted the bust of her dress lightly with her hand before walking over to him and placing her small, soft hand into his larger outstretched one that he offered to her.

--------------------------------

Josie frowned as Jared pushed her away and revealed that he'd already guessed what she was up to. Looks like they were going to have to do this the hard way. He pulled out his gun, but as nice as he was being towards her about the whole situation she highly doubted he would actually use it on her. It might be a little reckless of her, but it was a risk she was willing to take.

"No. No deal," she told him with a glare as she reached into her bustier and pulled out the blade she'd concealed there as she suddenly lunged at him.

"Good girl" He said his tone in pleasure as he pulled her entirely up and onto his horse. He winked at her and then with a yehaw they were off. He tore down the trail plumes of smoke drifting into the sky as they rode out of town.

"The rustlers were trying to take Old Man Jenkins cows" He explained to her hand on his iron as they moved off the dusty trail "Idiots thought since the old man was half deaf it would be easy pickings"

.....................................

The girl went after him pulling out a wicked looking knife that looked like it would do some damage.

Luckily he was half expecting it.

He didnt quite want to shoot her so instead he used his free hand to block the knife. He turned it to the side and with a sharp TANG it was embeded into the wood of the door. He at the same time cocked his gun jabbing it directly into her slim waist and raising an eyebrow.

"Darling I dont want to shoot you but I will" He growled "And the deals back to being fifty fifty take it or leave it"

Angel wrapped her arms around the sheriff's waist and held on tightly as they raced through the town and then off the dusty trail. Anger filled her when she heard him say that the rustlers had purposely singled out Mr. Jenkins, trying to take advantage of the old man.

"How horrible!" he commented with a frown.

---------------------------------------

Josie swore as she heard Redeye cock his gun and heard him jab it into her waist, her knife stuck now in the wood of the door instead of him. She could tell by the growl in his voice when he spoke again that he meant what he said.

"Looks like I don't have much of a choice now, do I?" she said narrowing her sharp blue eyes at him in anger, letting go of the knife and slowly raising her hands into the air.

"They do call it the wild west" He reminded her as they crested the hill side. The town was below them stretched out as best it could be in the dessert area. The town was a fair size compared to most ex mining settlements. The fact that it had managed to hold on when the gold dried up and even flourish made it a rare jewel in the west. Sheriff Smith was proud of it even, it was a place of new beginnings where an ex ranger like him could settle down. Sure he was bored but would he go back to his old life?

No chance in hell

"Ah there they are" He said adjusting the brim of his hat as he spotted a his deputies. They were chasing the rustlers who were trying to escape.

"Seems we got a chase" He told her smirking in pleasure "Care to spot me? I know your good with the iron"

He dug his spurs in and the his mustang broke out into a run. The ground thundered as he raced forward and he leaned in to run his hands through his mane as he coaxed the beast to go faster. They steadily gained reaching the deputies in a matter of minutes.

"Miss Angel!" One of the deputies said a younger and strapping lad who had always been sweet on her "What are you doing here?!"

................................

"I did give you the option of forty" He reminded her moving the gun away and tucking it back into its holster "I play fair darling I suggest you do the same"

He reached out gripping his large hand on her knife and pulling it out with a yank. He took the bowie knife and admired it giving it a few swings before handing it to her grip first.

"Nice knife" He told her a sexy smirk crossing his face "Now darling you ready to get the job done? I imagine our targets well under the table now"

He reached back gripping the door. This of course caused him to move his body forward so that they were touching. His warm chest and his heart hammering as he locked eyes with her and a sexy smirk crossed his face.

"Care to spot me? I know your good with the iron"

Before Angel could answer the sheriff dug his spurs into the mustang's sides and they were suddenly flying! She held tightly to the sheriff as they raced towards the deputies, the wind rushing past her and pulling loose long strands of hair from the twist she had arranged at the back of her head that day. She'd never ridden so fast on a horse in all her life. It was exhilarating!

When the deputy called out to her, she answered with a smile on her face and her cheeks flushed from the wind and from excitement, "Sheriff Smith invited me! I'm spotting him today!"

--------------------------------------------

Josie was a little surprised when he handed her the knife back, though she knew better than to try and use it on him again now. She guessed he'd figured that too.

She opened her mouth to answer him when he shifted his position, his body suddenly up against hers as they locked eyes and a sexy smirk crossed his face. They were so close that she could feel the warmth of his chest against her, and even his heart beating, causing her own heart to quicken it's pace. For a moment she just gazed up at him seemingly transfixed and forgetting her words before suddenly realizing herself again and taking a quick step back.

"Ready," she told him, "So what's the plan then?"

"And she cant spot with you lot gabbing her ear off!" Smith growled a hint of an amused smile on his face "Now get on! I want you lot moving forward cut them off!"

They all shouted yes and dug in kicking up dust as they raced forward. Within seconds they were neck and neck with the rustlers who had ditched shooting in order to focus on speed.

Which wasnt working for them

Within minutes the deputies had circled them forcing the group to stop. Smith stopped their horse as well moving them to a stop as the rustles probed for a way to get out of the circle.

"Gentleman A pleasure to catch up to you!" Smith said pulling his shot gun off of his back and moving towards them "I have a nice little cell set up for yall"

................................

"Plans the same as your old one" He said smirking and opening the door "Boss should be drunk as a skunk by now.... You go down proposition him and I lay in wait in the room once you come in I will come up behind him and hog tie him"

He reached out grabbing her arm "And dont you think you can get away with him I will be watched if I see even a hint of funny business I will come down and stop you"

Angel couldn't help but smile when the sheriff dug his heels into the mustang once again and they raced sped off again in order to circle the rustlers, her heart pounding in her chest at the thrill of the chase and also of having him so close as she held on tight. She loosened her grip on him slightly as he pulled the horse to a stop, they and the deputies having surrounded the rustlers. She reached into her bustier and pulled out her derringer as she eyed the rustlers warily.

------------------------------------------

"And dont you think you can get away with him I will be watched if I see even a hint of funny business I will come down and stop you"

Josie's eyes narrowed slightly at the man as he once again seemed to read her mind and warned her against exactly what she'd been planning out in her mind at that moment. She glanced down at his hand on her arm. Well, so much for that. Might as well 'play fair' as he'd called it. After all, half a bounty was better than none, which is exactly what she'd get if they continued to fight and the outlaw got away.

"Fine," she told him through clenched teeth, "You have my word...We'll bring him in together."

Once the cattle rustlers realized they were.

A. Out numbered

B. Out Gunned

C. Out horsed

They were quick to protest innocent. Their story was that the animals had escaped and they were trying to run them down to give back to Old Man Jenkins. Of course this story didnt make it far with Sheriff Smith and before they knew it there were being led back by two of his deputies on a rope train.

"Well thank goodness I had my self a sharp shooter as a spotter" He said coming back over to her and resting his shot gun on his shoulder "I think I should make you an honorary deputy" He told her with a wink.

"Now while I got you out here" He said reaching for his saddle bag and pulling out a wire wick basket.

"How bout a picnic?"

................................

"Well glad I made sure to add that in" Jared said hearing her tone of voice and guessing as to what she had planned "You know sugar im really not a bad guy Im more than willing to share the profit... And the rewards" He said reaching out and giving her ass a firm slap before he closed the door behind them.

He put his hands to his lip and moved going over to the balcony. Once he was there he leaned against the wall watching the affair downstairs and making it clear he could see any funny business she might try.

Angel smiled at the wink that Smith gave her and couldn't help but laugh in surprise and amusement when he reached into his saddle bag and pulled out a basket that he'd hidden there for a picnic.

"Why Sheriff Smith, you sly dog. If I didn't know better I'd think you planned this whole thing just to get me out here alone with you for a picnic," she teased him in a playful tone, "Were those even real rustlers, or did you pay them?"

---------------------------------------------

Josie jumped in surprise when Jared slapped her behind and narrowed her eyes at him in response, but nodded silently in understanding when he moved to the balcony and made her way back down the stairs. Her pale blue eyes scanned the room for a moment, quickly spotting the outlaw the two of them were after and sauntered up to him like before.

"They were real hustlers" He replied grabbing the horses reigns and leading her over to a tree "trust me no one would take any ammount of money to be hauled behind a horse on a rope"

He laughed at that and smiled up at her "But if it had not been rustlers then yes I would have had to make up some kind of problem to get you out here"

He brought the horse into the shade and turned tying it to a sturdy looking branch. Once he was sure the horse was secure he helped her off and down onto the grass before handing her the picnic basket.

"so care to join me?" He asked with a dip of his head.

...........................

He watched smirking in pleasure as he watched girl move. She had talent he had to give her that much. In another life he could see them being partners even.....

"Atta girl" He said watching the man get up and follow her. He moved into the shadows his hand going to the butt of his iron as he watched them ascend the stairs. The plan was to clock him out and then throw him down onto the ground and hopefully out of sight of his co horts. Then deliver him ALIVE to the bounty office.

Angel smiled as Smith dipped his head.

"I would love to," she told him in reply, her eyes twinkling in amusement at him. As notorious as she was for turning down invites from men trying to court her, she couldn't exactly blame him for being a little sneaky about it. Truth be told, she was rather glad that he had.

"Where should we set up?" she asked, glancing around in the shade for a good spot for their picnic.

--------------------------------------

Josie smiled as she ascended the stairs with the outlaw, pleased with how easily she had been able to convince the man to come with her. Drunk and clearly horny, his hands roamed over her body as they reached the top of the stairs and she began to lead him towards the same room she'd taken Jared. Knowing he was hiding somewhere watching, she made no effort to stop the other man's caresses, and even returned some of them. Partially because she wanted to keep the man distracted until Jared made his move, but also partially to make him jealous as payback for all the trouble he'd given her earlier.

"Here is good as spot as any I think" He said gesturing at the shadow of the tree with a sweep of his hand. He put the basket down and turned pulling each of them out an ice cold pop.

"I figure I would have to do some thing like this to get the infamous Angel out on a real date" He told her handing her a drink before pulling more food out of the basket "and wouldnt you know it but it worked"

.......................................

"Smooth move" He said noting his rising jealously and watching as their hands wandered "This girl really is some thing"

He moved after them falling in line behind them. He watched the door open and his gun came out as he moved quicker than his normal gait. He cleared the door with inches to spare and cracked his iron against the mans head. The drunk bastard went down with a drop out like a light as Jared straddled him.

"Im going to tie him up" Jared said pulling out his rope "Open the window! We can toss him out my horse is waiting by the post"

"I don't know if I would count tricking a gal to going out on a picnic with you as a 'real date' Sheriff," Angel told him teasingly with a smile as she took a seat in the shade next to where he'd placed the basked down and took a sip of her pop before adding, "But whatever it is or isn't, I'm glad you invited me."

She gazed up at him, her eyes soft and a breeze stirring the loose strands of hair around her face that had fallen down during their ride as she smiled at him again.

--------------------------

"Just what I was thinking," Josie agreed with a nod, "Mine should be nearby as well."

Throwing open the window, she leaned out and gave a soft whistle. Immediately a soft whinny was heard in reply and a chestnut mustang stallion came trotting up from around the corner.

"Good boy, Blaze," she cooed lovingly to the horse before turning with a smile back towards Jared, "You got him tied up yet?"

"I would call any thing that means you and I alone a date" He told her being bold and cupping her cheek "After all we have done this dance for nigh on two years now"

He let go and turned placing the basket on the picnic blanket and gesturing for her to sit. Once she was he followed sitting down next to her and reaching in to pull out the covered trays of food. Lunch was a simple affair but he had for brownie points bribed the cook at the brothel to make her her favorites.

"To being together date or not" He told her reaching out with his pop and clinking against her can.

........................

"Trussed and gagged" Jared replied hefting the large man over his shoulder and going over to the window. He noticed her horse waiting and turned pushing him through the window and onto the slanted sloop.

"Now I can go down and get him on your horse" Jared responded moving out to get onto the roof as well "That way you dont have to jump down and show every one the goods" He said winking at her as he pushed the man over to the edge.

"To being together," Angel agreed with a small smile as she clinked her bottle with his and then took another drink before setting it down next to her.

"Has it really been two years now since we've met?" she wondered out loud as she reached over and began to uncover the food he had brought, smiling when he noticed that he'd brought all of her favorites.

----------------------------------------

"I can get down myself, just give me a second," Josie told him as she reached under the bed and pulled out a sack that she'd hidden there earlier.

Opening the sack she pulled it upside down and emptied the contents onto the mattress revealing a change of clothes, a wide brimmed hat, and a holster with ammunition and pistol. Without caring if he was still watching or not, she then quickly shimmied out of her skirt, leaving her in just her corset, panties, hose, and shoes. Sliding off her garter and the derringer she had concealed there, she shoved both them and the skirt into the sack and then hastily pulled on the pants, shirt, and vest from the bed on top of what she currently wore before fastening the holster around her hips and placing the hat upon her head.

"Ok, ready," she told him, grabbing the sack and making her way over to the window before climbing out onto the roof. She then tossed her sack down onto the ground next to her horse before gracefully jumping down onto the ground and joining it, picking up the sack then and shoving it into one of her saddle bags.

"You comin' or not?!" she shot up at him with a grin.

"Whereabouts that time" He remarked a wirey grin on his face as he waited for her to dip him up "You were here first remember? I came a year later when I decided to retire we didnt meet at first though not until I ran into you in the sqaure that one time I remember being so nervous and talking you up a storm not knowing who you were imagine my surprise when every one sniggered at me and said I was falling for the towns Angel of risque!" He said chuckling and digging in.

After she had started eating of course.

.................................

Before he could say any thing she was stripping in front of him. He did his best to advert his eyes trying his best to be respectful even as he got a peek at the most succulent thighs.....

He turned deciding to focus on the bounty. The guy would be a bit jarred on the fall down but if there luck held he wouldnt wake up.

"Now or never" He murmured pushing the man off the edge and onto the ground. He moved to drop down himself but before he could Josie was behind him. Before he could say any thing she jumped down landing on the ground with her sack and grinning up at him.

"Yeah yeah yeah" He grumbled sliding off the roof and dropping onto the ground "Lets get on out of here"

He whistled and his own horse came riding up. He smiled up at his horse Daring and went to work getting the bounty onto his back. Once he was secure he scrambled on and turned to her.

"Bounty office is two towns over" He said nodding at the trail "Ladies first!"

Angel swallowed her bite of food and laughed lightly along with the sheriff as she raised an eyebrow. "Angel of risuque, hmm? So is that what they call me in town?" She wasn't sure if it was meant as a compliment or not, but she supposed either way she had probably been called worse in her life.

She looked over at him then and smiled, "Yes, I remember... though I don't remember you seeming nervous. I remember enjoying our conversation and thinking you were very charming and sweet."

----------------------------

Josie laughed lightly as she walked over to her horse, grabbing her saddle horn and swinging herself up onto the mount.

"I know where the bounty office is," she told him in a tone that implied this should have been obvious as she steered her horse in the direction of the trail before glancing over her shoulder at Jared and adding with a little smirk, "Just make sure you keep up, Sugar."

And with that she was off, giving her horse a kick and hurrying off away from the brothel before one of the man's friends noticed something was amiss.

"No I rarely show my emotions" He reminded her with a wink and a nudge of his hips. He turned gazing out at the desert and rolling peaks that dotted the area around their small city. He felt a deep contentment right then and there. Being here with her felt right... No better than right.

It felt good

"They call you it but most just prefer Angel" Smith said in answer to her earlier question "You know its funny most people dont readily accept a Brothel even if most towns have one yet some how you managed to become a loved Madame in this town I guess its just part of your natural charm but still it makes me happy to see" He told her taking a bite of the sandwhich he brought and washing it down with some pop.

...................

He laughed watching her take off like a bat out of heck. His eyes were alight with mirth as he nudged his own horse forward and with a large whooop he and his horse were off and trying to catch up. They raced out of the town quickly kicking up dust and sending a few stray people scattering. Within minutes they were moving down the hard packed dirty trail that run between the two towns and connected them together. He urged his horse forward until they were neck and neck together.

"You know I got the bounty right?" He asked her with a laugh as they kept racing "I could have totally left you went the opposite way and tried to collect the money my self!"

"So Josie right?" He asked her as they began to slow "You new to these parts?"

"Well I think the donations I make towards different town fund raisers and the fact that there's still so many men in this town compared to women has more to do with it than any natural charm I may have, but whatever the reason I'm happy for it too," she said with a smile as she too gazed out at the landscape, taking in its rugged beauty and releasing a sigh of contentment.

"I love it here. The people of this town have been good to me, and I am definitely grateful to them for making me feel so safe and welcome here...to you too Sheriff," she said turning back to him, her smile still in place, "Since the day you arrived you've always been so kind to me, even after you learned who and what exactly I was, you've always treated me like a lady. I just wanted you to know how much it means to me."

-------------------------------------------------

Josie smiled as Jared brought his horse neck and neck with hers, laughing at his remark about trying to collect the bounty money without her.

"Not if you knew what was good for you," she commented with a smirk, slowing her horse now that they'd managed to put a bit of distance between themselves and the town.

"That's right. You asked someone at the brothel about me, huh?," she replied with a slight nod in response to his other questions, "Josephine Porter's my given name, but no one's actually called me that in ages. I'm fairly new to these parts, used to do a lot of work in Texas mostly. Folks down there in the business used to call me 'Rowdy Joe'."

He starred at her as he spoke and chuckled at her words.

"No offense darling but you got nothing to thank me for" He said with a wave of his hand "This country was founded on freedom and new beginnings people come out here and live a hard life because they want some thing more for them selves and want a chance of pace I tracked a lot of bad guys in my days and visited many a town and you know what I always saw? Decent folk just trying to make a living"

"Way I see it your doing the same" He said finishing his food and taking another sip of his drink "And I admire you a heck of a lot for that... Theres never been a woman like you" He said their eyes locking.

...................................

"Rowdy Joe huh?" He said eyeing her up and down and laughing "No offense sweet heart but your far to pretty to be a joe"

Their horses trotted down the trail which thankfully was empty. Still he kept one hand on his iron and even as he spoke to her his eyes scanned the road and the territory around them. He didnt trust the wilds and knew any one who noticed their captive might decide to try and take him for themselves.

"So what brings you down from Texas?" He asked her "Wanting to try your luck here? Or some type of mission?"

Angel smiled at Sheriff Smith as she too finished her meal and their eyes locked again. His reasons that he gave for her not needing to thank him only making her want to thank him that much more.

"So what first made you decide to come out here to the 'wild west' Sheriff? Were you looking for some kind of change of pace yourself?" she asked curiously, setting down her drink and empty plate to the side.

-----------------------------

Josie too kept a sharp eye on their surroundings while they chatted. As a single woman and a bounty hunter, she was all too aware of the dangers one could encounter out on the road. Plus, as nice as this guy seemed they had only just met and she wasn't sure yet how much she could trust him, which meant she was going to have to keep an eye on him too.

"A little bit of both actually," she told him in reply, "I'd tracked an outlaw all the way out here from El Paso and just turned him in for the bounty when I heard about our friend here and decided to stick around for a bit and go after him... So what about you? You from these parts?"

Her question about his past surprised him. He gave her a long side ways glance appraising her as if he was trying to decide if she could stand the answer or not. Finally he lifted his hand up pushing his hat up so he could look into her eyes as he pushed himself up.

"I suppose you could say I was looking for some thing like that" He said shrugging grabbing one of the beers he brought "I came here after the war.... I wanted to get away from the politics more or less"

He cracked it open and took a long deep pull "After "Protecting" people and I use the term loosely and defending my country I felt my talents would be best helping people on my own terms every one was looking for a law man willing to go and help defend the west so I became a ranger easily enough I was pretty good at it to but eventually that became political to and so I left and became a sheriff now the only political thing I have to do is let the mayor do what most men do"

He chuckled to himself and sighed leaning against the tree and stretching out.

"You know this tree is pretty comfy" He said grinning feeling bold.

.......................

"I am indeed" He said filing her backstory away for later "I made my self some thing of a name down in these parts now I am trying to earn enough of a bounty to relocate crimes down and most people know my face and name enough not to give me any trouble.... And I like trouble a fair bit"

They crested a ridge and just like that the town that issued the bounty sprang up. It was a small town one that looked like it was trying to get off the ground and become some thing proper.

"Well there she is" He said turning his head to her "How about we drop this guy off and I buy you a drink we can celebrate a job well done and a new friend being made"

"Oh is it now?" Angel replied back with a bit of a laugh and smiling at the sheriff's remark.

Rising from her spot on the picnic blanket she moved over towards where he sat stretched out against the tree and sat down right beside him, her shoulder and arm pressing up against him and the skirts of her dress brushing against the side of his leg as she nestled her back against the trunk of the tree and stretched her legs out in front of her along with him.

"Hmmm, your right," she commented as she turned to him with a little smirk, "It is pretty comfy."

---------------------------

Josie smirked at Jared's comment about liking a bit of trouble. He was a man after her own heart it would seem. Her eyes took in the layout of the town as they crested the hill and she turned to him at his offer to buy her a drink after they turned in the outlaw. She examined him for a moment in consideration of his proposition before finally smiling slightly and giving him a nod.

"Guess I could use a drink after a night like tonight... and I suppose after stealing half of my bounty out from under me buying me a drink is the least you could do," she teased him playfully, another little smirk tugging up the corner of her full lips.
