An erotic tale of reluctance, domination and persecution told with haremfaery. Please enjoy
In the year 1708 there stood a small New England town of Templeton. It had a quaint and peaceful reputation, far away from the hustle and bustle of Boston or Cape Cod. This town had found a place all its own, nestled between good farmland and a deep dark wood. The only sound, apart from the various birds was a babble of a creek. There was a single wooden bridge that lead over this creek and joined up the townsfolk to a single road leading up to the larder cities.
People came by regularly to Templeton for trade and business. They all recalled how nice and friendly their residents were. These were simple people who led quiet and easy lives. They worked hard, they prayed hard and they hoped for a good crop come spring.
The Bishop Matthew Smythe rode his horse into this town on a fine summery day in July. He had a large brimmed hat that cast a shadow over his face, leaving him merely a shadow with dark piercing eyes. He dressed in a simple black with a cloak over him that resembles a cleric's robes. A large red cross hung from his neck and made noise as he rode his horse through the town.
He dismounted from his horse at the local bulletin board put up at the center of town. This board was only a long plank of wood, meant to keep track of crops or give notices to the town, even decree new laws that came in. The Reverend walked up to this bulletin board and unrolled a yellowed piece of parchment.
The lettering looked distinguished, almost regal. It looked like the calligraphy one might find in a bible, not a bulletin board. Smythe nailed it into the board, proud of it now in its new home.
A small crowd had formed. A few old ladies with baskets of fruit and a young blacksmith with a couple of children stared at the young Reverend. Smythe smiled and paid them all compliments of the day.
"I am here by order of the church," He said simply, "The Witchcraft Act put in place by our Majesty is to be enforced. Anyone practicing or associated with satanic rituals or other forms of witchcraft are hereby known enemies of the land. I am to find and persecute them according to the laws."
Another couple of people now joined the group, hearing Matthew's sweet voice. Matthew looked young, at twenty two he had been given this pristine honor to travel to some of the lesser towns and begin in the hunt. He had curly blond hair, soft brown eyes and a lean figure that could not be seen because of his thick robes.
He spoke loudly, but his words did not come from anger but from passion. He had assisted in many hunts and trials, finding them to be the Lord's true work. To him, there was no other purity in this country.
"I encourage anyone here to look for the signs of witchcraft. Naked dancing, the practice of alchemy and satanic spells, ritualistic orgies. You can tell if a witch is nearby from the animals. Dogs are uneasy, chickens refuse to lay eggs, calves are stillborn. Any of these signs must be told to me immediately, so I can find and destroy the witch before she does more harm to our land."
Already there was a stir going through the crowd. A buzz of rumor and gossip as more people now walked towards the forming group. It looked as if half the town were now here. Good, Smythe did not enjoy repeating himself.
"I will be staying at the church if you have any information for me."
But already the people were willing to talk.
Already there were secrets to hear.
Smythe listened.
