While certainly anonymity empowers the fuckheads, I think its pretty impossible to ignore that there is a real presence of misogyny in the U.S. (actually, most of the world, but I can only speak authoritatively about the U.S....well, some other places as well, but I know nothing of how women are treated, for example, in the U.K.).
It just comes out more easily when you don't have to take responsibility for it.
