Thinkings, feelings and...doings ~ 2013

LT: How is it that a thread with such bad writing can have so many views and yet other threads with far better writing have so few? Isn't there something wrong with this picture?

Just my two cents: everyone has their own preferences. What I may want to read may be totally opposite from what somebody else wants to read. What may constitute "good writing" or "bad writing" for one person may not carry over to the next individual. That's why it's great that there's an endless variety of fiction out there to choose from. Everyone can pick what they like! :)

Two cents well spent!

Watching South Park's spoof of Game of Thrones and remembering once again why I hate that show.

Thinking: Why do I always allow this to happen? I still think I must have been switched at birth.

Feeling: On edge.

Doing: Trying to distract myself from the drama that is my family.

Thinking: It's going to be a long night.

Feeling: Thankful.

Doing: Taking a break from working.

And yet another night of broken sleep....God help anyone who crosses me today...

Patience = Pretty non-existant!

LT: Oh shit, I can't believe I did that. :(

F: Pretty damn nervous. Waiting for a phone call.

D: Everything to keep myself busy...

care for a hug?

Hugs are always good, thanks for the kind offer

And...

LT ~ Oh Friday, I've been waiting for you.

Feeling ~ Excited, about lots of things.

Doing ~ Planning all manner of creative stuffs - wordy, crafty and surprise-y :D
And making up words, too, apparently!

How do you not like it?

ok, do you happen to like the books? they are even better than the show.

OK Rant mode on:

Tried the books before the show and stopped halfway through. Tried the show, and concede its good with great actors and performances, but...here's the thing I hate these people. They all need a beating....and I don't fucking care which one of them sits on that stupid uncomfortable-looking metal chair in kings landing either. None of them deserve to be king.

I wanted to strangle some of those characters they made me so mad....which is a good thing. You want to care about the story that much to bring up emotions good and bad. But as a reader and a viewer I demand a sense of justice...or at least a promise of comeuppance for the bad guys. That's where it failed me.

The point that threw me was in Book 1 where Sansa's wolf gets killed for the other wolf biting the worthless shit Joffrey and the butcher boy just gets trampled over...all because the little shit is a prince and the Queen is a bitch.

Then they kill the 1 guy I liked (Ned Stark) for finding out about Joffrey's true parentage...and that was the point I threw the book in the trash.

Second complaint: where are the zombies from the north? Where are the dragons? GRRM should have had more about them and the threat they posed to Westeros...instead the majority of GoT consists of worthless shits squabbling over who sits in the stupid uncomfortable metal chair. If I want to watch people bickering at eachother and backstabbing eachother I'll change it to a reality show.

The only conclusion I can make is while I love Epic Fantasy as a genre that GoT is not my cup of tea.

I understand your frustrations. I had similar ones related to the characters but I kept reading and now I am addicted. The worst book for me was the second one. I abandoned that book for several months before finally forcing myself to finish it. I'm not sure what it was, but that one was just awful.

I think that GRRM has developed his characters so well that readers become very emotionally involved with the story. Admittedly, I cried and yelled in alternating times with the story. However, I am so far in now that I have to know what happens. Daenerys and Tyrion are my most loved characters of the novels and the show as well.

The thing is I like Epic fantasy with a hefty dose of politics, but somehow this Song of Fire and Ice one just turned me off.
