Thoughts on monogamy in today's world?

In my view, it was religion that forced us down that narrow minded path. Its not for all of us and should not be forced on any one

Yeah, problem with that is that the guy who disagrees with you is either willing to kill you or stands by idly while someone else kills you.

Point take. Religious people often have very high horses or dubble standards

This seems to be a viable topic that I've seen mentioned in passing on a few threads. I wanted to open a discussion and see what opinions you all may have.

I have come to believe it is something that came about through necessity. Given the divorce rate is now above 75%, is the idea of having one mate for life still the ideal goal?
It is still the ideal goal for people who value monogamy well above all other concerns.

I would like to get married again, and I am 42, so, I think that's reasonable. By now, women my age will have sown their wild oats a bit and may desire one reliable partner in life, their rock, their home base, so to speak.

However, I have also realized that love and romance, and sexual liberation, need not all be bound together as a package deal, and if the woman of my life needs to experience bisexual desires, or be taken by a stranger, I am now at a point where I am no longer jealous. I just want her happiness.

I just want her. Any part of her. Hopefully, the vast majority of her love and attention, but. I will take part.
