Time to pierce my nipples?

My nipples * sigh*

I got them pierced about a year ago and I think the jewelry is being rejected. In this town in Kansas U.S.A. the only studio that was good at poking holes in bodies is going out of business and one piercer I trust is no longer around. I remember hearing from someone in San Francisco, back when I lived there and where I got most of my piercing done, that going to a larger ga may stop the rejection.

I started with little ol' 12 ga wanting to eventually get to 8 ga - or maybe 6 ga. I think I'm going to get a tapper and go up to 10 ga on my own, and then take them to 8 ga as soon as I can. I have a bunch of 10 ga rings so I have plenty of jewelry to work with.

I have also decided to take my ears from 4 ga to 2 ga. As soon as I get the 2 ga jewelry installed I think I may stretch the bottom two rungs of my scrotal ladder from 6 ga to 4 ga with the rings I am now using in my ears.

Speaking of piercings.... Has anybody ever had trouble with their ears being pierced, i.e. allergic reaction or posts becoming corroded while they were in, but went ahead with other piercings and had them be ok? If so was there something specific you did to help avoid the problem?

Thanks...

*sigh* my body has rejected the nipple rings so it now back to, well, just nipples

I did take my ears to 2 ga and all four rungs of my scrotal ladder to 4 ga.

;)

Sorry to hear that, Shank! It must be hard to deal with when you put so much time and effort into getting the piercings done and caring for them, trying to get them to heal properly, etc...

Give your body time to heal, then perhaps try the nipple rings again with a different material? Some materials will work well in one body area and not in another. If you had problems with metal rings or bars in the nipples you might check to see if acrylic will work for you.

Have you tried nickel free? I and my oldest are very allergic to nickel. I got her ears pierced for her birthday last August and as of a month ago the damn things had not healed and were mildly infected. I decided to try nickel free earrings for her, and they're completely healed and the infections gone. :nana:

Warning - surgical stainless steel IS NOT nickel free, unless otherwise specified.

My ex got the top rim of her ear pierced and after 6 months, it still hadn't healed - the piercer had gone too far into the cartelage and it was giving her cauliflower ear - she eventually had to take it out. I've found with my ear piercings (I have 5) that I can only wear sterling silver or high quality gold posts or I have problems, even after 30 years...

I'm allergic to nickel as well, and I've had lots of problems with basic piercings - like the ears. But my body piercings never had trouble healing. Belly button was fine, vertical hood healed in three weeks and was the best piercing I ever got and I'm on month seven of my nipples and they're doing fine.

Nipples take a long time to heal, generally, and I'm sure you know this.

Now, the point I want to bring up here is actually in your words - you keep saying "rings". Did you get the pierced with rings? Because I've had my nipples pierced before - with rings - and they rejected. Especially if you ever wear, say... a bra. The reason is tight clothing in the chest has a tendency to push down on the lower half of the ring, causing the upper half (which is in your nipple) to... push out. That's why mine rejected. I got them repierced with straight barbells and they are healing beautifully.

If you ever want to come up to Michigan, I know the best piercer ever, in Ann Arbor. She'd probably do ya right. *winks*

Good luck... I love my piercings and wish everything who wants them the same joy I find in mine!

P.S. 12 gauge really should be fine. It's the dopes that pierce nipples with, say, 18 gauge that are just asking for torn nipples

I feel your pain, Shank. I've had mine done twice, once with 14 gauge captive beads and once with 12 gauge barbells, and my body rejected them both times after about 6 or 8 months. I didn't have the heart to have them done a third time. I had my hood and my tongue done as well, but they both started annoying me so much that I stopped wearing them, which I guess is just as well because B. doesn't like piercings, anyway.

thanks everyone - this was time number 2 for the nipples and they had been done with 12 gauge barbells - after over a year that just had not calmed down so I mooved up to 10 gauge rings to see if that do it - that was more then they could deal with and both just pitched a fit.

I am happy with the 9 other piercings I do have that are fine. This makes 6 in total that have been rejected in several places over about 10 years. I think I'll just find other games to play with my nipples for now.

"stretching" -*sigh*
I had to start with little 12ga and let them heal. I have a pile of 6ga stuff I want to to use in them NOW - sniff sniff - but by this time next year they just might be ready.

I'm such a size slut........

I stretched too soon and lost the piercing. Now I've got to wait before I can do them again.

ok i freely admit i know nothing about piercing or any thing... what i DO know is jewelry... now i have people who are allergic to the alloys in gold come in my store all the time... for them we make or give them platinum earrings... can you have platinum piercing’s? i understand it would cost ALOT but if your body wouldn’t reject it... any one know any thing on the subject matter? Also what is the opinion of pierced nipples on guys with medium size nipples (my own) thought about it but don’t know if I could do it (although I love them played with

Was wondering with you guys that had problems with your piercings rejecting.. What were the symptoms? Have had my nipples pierced for seven months and they still get very sore..but they still appear the same as they did when i had them done. Could the fact that they stay sore mean my body is rejecting them?

I could be wrong, but I think their'd be more signs. My friend's ears rejected earings five times before they took, and they SWELLED up so big that she couldn't get the earring out (they were swollen all around it) and had to go to the ER.

Have you considered getting nickel free posts?

Sorry to hear it...good rule of thumb to follow would be to gage-up only once in every 12 to 18 months. I'll make 0ga on my nipple by the end of the year with that formula.

For me, the jewelry was slowly pushed out. The first time, I didn't want to take them out, even though I knew I was going to lose them, so the rings, in essence, ripped all the way through my nipples. I still have a slight deformity to both of them because of this. The second time, when I saw the holes stretching and the piercings migrating again, I just said, "Screw it" and took them out. Unless you can see that the jewelry has moved, it's doubtful that yours are being rejected. Nipple piercings can stay sore for a long, long time just because it takes a long, long time for them to heal since there's very little bloodflow to that area, as opposed to other parts of the body.

Mine are still in the same place as they were pierced. i was thinking i may be keeping them sore because i always sleep on my tummy?
