To submissive for citizenship.

I think it's more because women are more readily reduced to not-a-person and then you can decide what should happen to them like little chess pawns.

actually I was thinking that about two seconds after I posted

Follow this to it's logical conclusion---

If she does not exercise "equality of the sexes" and that disqualifies her for citizenship and dresses in a way that is considered "radical" beacause of her religion then it follows that;

1) There will have to be some test, government sponsored and monitored for EVERY woman in France.

2) If a woman is already a citizen she may have to be sent for therapy/re-education (sound familiar?)

3) If a woman converts to Islam or any other "traditional" religion then she must be subjected to #2 or be stripped of her citizenship.

4) In order to prevent "contamination" France must immediately take steps to prevent freedom of speech, ANY practice of religion and intense indoctrination in the schools starting at the youngest age possible to be sure that this doesn't spread.

I'm sure I've missed something. I'm not awake yet but you get the idea.

The ruling comes weeks after a heated debate over whether traditional Muslim views were creeping into French law, prompted by a court annulment of the marriage of two Muslims because the husband said the wife was not a virgin as she had claimed to be.

Hope does one prove the lady isn't a virgin?

there was an article a while back about an arch bishop from the C of E saying "There may be a time when we need two sets of laws, one for the general populace and one for those who follow sharia". He said that the sharia laws wouldn't allow for things like killings and such, but still.
Only the seriously deranged don't understand the balance created by one set of laws for ALL PEOPLE together. You can't have one group subject to one set of laws and another subject to a completely different set and still call yourselves a country.
I couldn't quite figure out if he was trying to be reflexively PC or if he was simply surrendering to the fact that some people feel they can obey their own laws so whats the point

That article and mis' statement about not wearing the Star of David while there makes me wonder. I thought the French had one of the most liberal societies around.

That and I think their excuse is utter bullshit.

-sigh-

Reading through here all I can say is

Borders, what a silly concept.
