Today I .........

Today I say hello to you all....... any one feel like making the squash and turnip for me? I can't stand peeling those.... but I was smart enough to buy the squash already peeled but apparently no one is willing to peel the turnip - even for a price!

Today I would be happy to try and make a squash and a turnip for you, personally I find it easier to dig them out of the ground though or even easier buy them from a supermarket.

Actually is Squash and Turnip some kind of innuendo that I don't get?

Today if there is some innuendo I don't know about it!

I just don't like to peel them...... they're tough and I usually end up cutting myself...

Welcome home Wanderer

Today, I think this fine lady gets carried away in tradition.... tell me are you going to have rude-beggers also ( unsure of the spelling) though they taste as nasty as they sound and mom always has them

Today Cate I would be willing to peel them. I love both turnips and squash!

Today I will say NO, I am not having rutabaga (I had to look it up)..... I've heard they go well with strawberries in a pie.... I'll believe that without ever finding out for myself.

Happy Thanksgiving JCB.....:rose:

Today I must tell Cate that rutabaga in a pie sounds terrible and I love it, but rhubarb pie is delicious. We used to have it a lot during the summer when I was a child.

Today I am wondering what rutabaga is or are? JCB's rude beggar sounded more intriguing though.

DGO I love rhubarb crumble and rhubarb pie, so if you're making one save me a bit please.

Today I must tell you that I almost included a picture of rutabaga, but thought I was going a bit overboard.

If you like turnips you'll like rutabaga. I boil them with onions, mash them and serve with butter.

Today I have learnt something. Thanks DGO - I have never heard of rutabaga - I guess they aren't available here. I do like turnips though.

- am preparing a roast beef and chocolate brownies for Turkey Day (I understand it's tradition, blah, blah, blah, but I can' have chicken any day! chuckle) and will PRAY my Cowboys can beat the Bears. Sigh.

- am praying for someone who's traveling to see her folks. Hoping her flight is ok and for once she doesn't lose her luggage. chuckle.

Today I like your menu. I'm preparing duck with sour cream pound cake for desert. I've changed my mind about the desert several times, but I think this is it, since it's in the oven.

TY. :)

Drooling... sour cream pound cake sounds REALLY good...

Today I wish we celebrated Thanksgiving in the UK just so that I could eat some of this fantastic sounding food you are all talking about.

Today I say hello to you all..... Wanderer, seems there is one rather large reason you do not celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK!!! I went to Plymouth MA the other day for a walk, you know the place it is where 'Plymouth Rock' and the 'Mayflower' are.... we keep that rock in a cage! lol

I am confused now about rhubarb and rutabaga - are they the same thing?

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating ....

Rutabega is a root vegetable. Frankly it looks like a brown bowling ball. chuckle.

Rhubarb looks like celery accept the stalks are brigtht... purple-reddish. (There's probably some name for that color, but I have no idea. chuckle.)

Technically both are vegetables. However rhubarb is used like a fruit in pies and stuff. It's very tart, like cranberries, so you end up using a lot of sugar.
