Rutabega is a root vegetable. Frankly it looks like a brown bowling ball. chuckle.

Rhubarb looks like celery accept the stalks are brigtht... purple-reddish. (There's probably some name for that color, but I have no idea. chuckle.)

Technically both are vegetables. However rhubarb is used like a fruit in pies and stuff. It's very tart, like cranberries, so you end up using a lot of sugar.

yup rhubard is VERY tart, you have to boil the crap out of it, make sure it's way soft. Boiling gets rid of alot of the tartness, but I do still have to use alot of sugar in my strawberry rhubarb pie.
:p

Today I say hello to you all..... Wanderer, seems there is one rather large reason you do not celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK!!! I went to Plymouth MA the other day for a walk, you know the place it is where 'Plymouth Rock' and the 'Mayflower' are.... we keep that rock in a cage! lol

I am confused now about rhubarb and rutabaga - are they the same thing?

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating ....

Today I posted pictures of them Cate.........go back a bit.

Today I say 'baaa' to you Wanderer...... I have been known to be nice to you on occasion, and since today is a special day here in the U.S. I would think you, an English man, would want to be extra special nice to me. Or I will send that stinky, smelly 'Mayflower' boat back to YOU!

Today I have discovered that the "Mayflower" is not held in the esteem that I thought it was.

By the way I didn't say that you weren't nice to me I was just surprised I had been nice to you.

Today is my favorite holiday! I've already set myself up for a food disaster as I didn't check my turkey in the fridge yesterday to make sure it was thawing in time. There's going to be a 2-hour delay now.

Oh well, it's still my favorite holiday and I'm still going to eat very well.

I see Cate and Wanderer are back to their regular verbal tennis match.:D

Today I am thrilled to get to chat with you Den ~ Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

I'm glad you won't live on the wild side and try to thaw that bird in the microwave - of course I would.....but I'm dumb as a brick sometimes! Such is the case when talking with Wanderer....... LMAO (I had to do it.... just had to)

Today there is no harm in repeating yourself. Oh by the way you know I love you really.

Think I better go to the doctor to see if can give me something to fix what's coming out of this head of mine.

Today I think that is so sweet Wanderer and I love you too....

btw... about the Mayflower ~ I live near Plymouth MA and as a kid in grade school we went to Plymouth each year for a field trip - always seeing the Plimouth Plantation, The Rock and then touring the Mayflower. Each time I was done in by the Mayflower - it was dark, damp and dank and the smell was terrible. I would always try to stay at the back of the line so I could run off the ship before getting sick..... so while it is a symbol for this country I just have an up close and personal experience with the place. ;)

Today I melted, like I always do, when my cat lays near me and she's belly up to the air. That buddha belly does me in every time.

Today was a lovely time with my family, we had a great meal and so much laughter. The kids had a great time together too. A nice day for everyone.

- ate waaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
- WATCHED MY COWBOYS WIN!!! WOOHOO!
- talked with a bunch o' people to wish them Happy Turkey Day.

Today I think I have finally got rid of my jet lag, at least I slept through the night without waking.

Today I am wondering what rutabaga is or are? JCB's rude beggar sounded more intriguing though.

DGO I love rhubarb crumble and rhubarb pie, so if you're making one save me a bit please.

Today... I say, I could have looked up the spelling, but I think rude-begger is more like it and after this whole episode I did and found out they are part of the turnip family... and DGO I must say it has been having strawberry/rhubarb pie (infact since my grandmother passed on) though agree it is yummy!!!

Hello to all the to-dayers!
