Today I fed a blind man... it really humbles you to really think about how blessed you are to just SEE...
It made me feel weepy inside for him knowing he won't see a thunderstorm, or flowers or a sunset again...
Makes the word Grateful an understatement...

Today I kept my friend.
Today I wrote a letter that is probably more truthful than some will realize and he won't see it, but sometime it will be written again or at least spoken face-to-face.

Today I slept from noon till 8pm.
Today I will go to work for midnight, even though today was supposed to be my day off.
Today I realized that baking red skinned potatoes in the slow cooker may not be a good idea... they're brown on the inside now!

However.....
Being blind means he will see things that we cannot fathom.
He will feel the thunderstorm in a way you cannot imagine.
He will sense the coming of the rain way before you and I.
The fragrance of the flowers will mean more to him than us.
The feeling of the sun will be warmer and known in ways that we will not know.
Being blind is not the end of the world, however being desensitized to the beauty that surrounds us is.
Thank you for helping a person that needs a hand up.

today i stayed an extra hour at work to talk to my boss - actually, he talked, i listened. there are some political things going on at his church home since being assigned a new pastor and her dynamic is not sitting well with several members. some have actually left the church. my boss is the type of person that would like for there not to be chaos and wants everyone to "get along". he basically told me that the new pastor says things about members that, being the head of the church, she probably shouldn't be saying. i told my boss that i could tell this situation was weighing heavily on his shoulders and that i think she crossed the line, whether her accusations are true or not - that's not appropriate behavior.
i told him that i hope things are calm when it's all said and done and that the new pastor will learn to tame her tongue or she may find herself in a world of trouble. i told him to pray for less conflict so that the process of resolving the community issues can be done peacefully, i told him to pray that positive, uplifting words are placed on his pastor's lips. i know it wasn't the best advice, but he didn't need my advice - he needed to give vent to his feelings and i didn't mind listening.
i hate it for him. i hate that things are getting so turned around that it's causing members to leave.
