Robert was chatty, almost flirty on the way home. Maybe the party had loosened him up, reminded him of those happier times. Whatever the cause, Jessica said a silent prayer of thanks that things with Carson had gone no further than a few kisses and some peek a boo moments. It could end where it stood.
She thought about how those few kisses had made her feel. The ferocity of the desire they invoked had shaken her greatly. She knew the passion had been absent from her life for awhile, but she hadn't realized how badly she'd missed it until it literally smacked her in the face.
Sure, Carson was forbidden fruit, which only served to sweeten his appeal. His reputation alone had been enough to inspire a few of her fantasies. She had fallen for his charm in a moment of weakness. steeped in alcohol she didn't normally drink. It went deeper, but she ignored the pang of remorse she felt. Instead of dwelling on her mistake, she focused on this moment with Robert.
He was as handsome as ever, and smiling as he was now, reminded her of why she had fallen for him in the first place. Nothing ever got him down. He had lived a charmed life, and while he was aware of his privileged status, he didn't look down too far at anyone. The rest of the family wondered why he was willing to let Carson take advantage of him. Robert never saw it that way. When asked if he thought Carson would do the same for him, he always replied "who cares?" and meant it.
The bikini she had worn to the party was still in a pile by the bed. No reason to dirty up another, this one was still in good enough shape. She slipped out of her "limited edition designer dress" and draped it over the chair beside her bed. She stood in her pretty matching bra and panties, remembering Carson grabbing her wrist and forcing her hand against her. The wetness he had stirred in her darkened the crotch of the bright pink lacy underthings, reminding her of how close she had come to crossing that line.
Jessica peeked her head into Robert's half of their big master suite.
"We can talk about it later, I'm busy with the wife," she heard him say, then he tossed his phone on the bureau. He told her she looked beautiful, remembered her bikini from the night before..."I'm glad you wore it again so I could tell you how amazing you looked in it," then took her hand and kissed it softly. He led her down to the pool and before she could protest he picked her up and tossed her in the shallow end. The cool water felt good, and the playful side of Robert felt even better. He jumped in beside her as she surfaced, splashing her while she tried to recover from the impromptu dunking. They laughed, swam a few laps, which Robert won, of course. When they were both breathless they sidled up to one another where the water reached their torsos. Robert leaned back on the edge, and Jessica stood in front of him. She kissed his face, then centered on his lips. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, let her kiss his face and neck some more.
"Maybe tonight, well, it's been awhile," she said softly, trying not to sound too needy.
"Oh Jess, I have such an early day tomorrow, how about I promise some time with you before the week is out?" he asked.
"Of course babe, just let me know, okay?" she leaned into him and rested her head against his chest. No reason to push, or pout. She tried to pretend like it didn't sting, but she was glad for the bright sun, giving her an excuse to be a little teary eyed.
They splashed around some more, and while Jessica was trying to stay focused on her husband, she couldn't help glance toward the bungalow and wonder if Carson was in there, watching them now.
