Some of the resentment I understand. I grew up in a reddish/purple part of a very blue state and we were virtually ignored by the State Government, left to wither on the economic vine, with scant economic prospects, and I ultimately had to leave home just to find stable/gainful employment. Kind of sucks actually.
And that's the problem. The resentment is being mercilessly exploited by people who have no interest in solving real problems.
In his first term, they couldn't. In his second term, they won't. This time around he made a point of surrounding himself with yes-men and women who he knew would never try to stop him from doing whatever he wants.
