Treasure Hunters

Kensuke said:
After drying myself from the bath, I heard a knock on the door. I sighed as I didn't even have enough time to change.

I wrapped the towel around my waist and opened the door. "Tanya?" I asked. 'She was coming to see me while I was taking a bath, eh?' I thought. 'Heh, might as well play along.' "What is it?" I asked, smirking.

Men. Well, to be fair, she was in a bikini, and he in a towel. Still, the smirk, and the implication behind it, was annoying.

"Boss, Nicodemus just told me he's got some info 'bout an artifact we need to recover pronto. Nic?"

She stepped aside to allow the Ghost Soldier to have his say.

When she denied his gift, speaking of it's meaning, Lotharian scoffed lightly, placing it on the desk next to him. Though it was his first book of magic he ever owned, far too many bad memories were tied to it... he would have no problem letting go what he didn't need.

"If magic was still in this world, I can summon any spell from that book from memory. And I would give it to my apprentice or child." Lotharian said with a smirk, thinking of the old ways. "But, thanks to certain events, I've neither. And I doubt I ever will. So you might as well take if for your collection, and centuries from now, when the artifacts are beginning to wane as well, you'll have something to remember at least one of the wizards by."

Lilith smiled, she could feel the emotion in him and slowly embraced him. Something she had never done, and would never do again. "I will keep it safe," she promised as she moved away holding the volume to her chest tightly.

"THank you.." she said as she headed towards the door.

"Yeah, I'm here, too," Nicodemus remarked sardonically.

"Do you remember the books I took from the necromancer we killed? I've discovered another artifact, one that needs to be destroyed." He filled the ship's captain in on the details of the Eye of the Lycanthrope, making sure to drive home the point that in the wrong hands, it could be extremely dangerous.

Lotharian did when Lilith hugged. The generally cold mage, actually hugged back slightly. And if she would've looked, she would've seen those mirrors of eyes crack slightly, for a but a moment. And just as sudden as it came, the vampiress with a heart was away.

He noticed her leaving and nodded. "Good. You're getting me all emotional..." Lotharian said jokingly, taking more notes on this mask as she was leaving the room to whatever was her pleasure. "Tell our leader I'll have all the notes I'll need within an hour."

As she approached the door she turned back, "I will...Lotharian, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?" she asked knowing it sounded rather random. "It's the least I can do after all this, please say yes..." she pleaded as she leaned against the frame of the door and smiled at him slightly, "And you wont have to have blood, I'll eat real food with you and everything..." she assured him with a smile.

Lotharian took a deep breath, considering the Vampiress' offer. She was lovely and smart, and even kind... but she was still a Vampire. And he couldn't remember the last time she fed. The last thing he wanted to do was put himself at a risky position... But he didn't want to make the poor girl feel like an outcast.

That and if he refused she'd stay in his cabin longer.

"Hrm... Fine. If it gets you out of my cabin and a free meal." Lotharian said in his 'grumpy old man' manner, turning back to his notes. "Now I've much work to do! Unlike you, I don't have an eternity of leisure with my studies! The last I need is to wait until my eyes start to go..."

"Fine!" Lilith rolled her eyes, "you have two hours, be at my quarters..." she said closing the door slowly behind her. She had no idea why she had asked Lotharian to dinner, most people on the ship disliked him and Lilith could understand why. But then again they never got the chance to be around him as she did. She smiled to herself as she continued to her quarters passing Tanya, Nic and the captian, "Nice ass Tanya," Lilith remarked as she looked back into the book she had cracked open since walking.

Soon she had arrived at her quarters and went inside laying across the bed and beginning to read through the pages.

Tanya grinned and winked at Lilith as she passed.

She liked the vampire's direct approach. Of course, she hadn't ever let herself get close to her. She didn't entirely trust her, seeing as how she was a bookworm and a vampire. Too draining, on too many levels. Still, she never objected to a good flirt.

Something that the captain hadn't ever quite caught onto.

So she stood there, feeling warm from Lilith's comment, and seeing the captain in his bathtowel, and listening to Nicodemus explain about the Eye ... She interrupted for a moment,

" Scuse me."

She padded off to her cabin, where she stripped down for a (hopefully hot) shower, another luxury she never had in the desert.

Lotharian snorted to himself after she left, taking the needed notes on the mask. To find out more of the magics behind them... There HAD to be a magic that could rekindle magic! To gift it back to the world! He couldn't be distracted by this pathetic thing they call emotion...

"Pah... Just my old mind getting weak..." Lotharian said with another snort as he began jotting down points...

Lilith red through most of the book quickly, maveling at the precise details of certain spells. She hummed softly to herself as she laid there the rush of learning making her smile as she sat up and walked to a small cupboard and pulled out a small round vial from it. Within slid a thick crimson liquid and Lilith licked her lips. It had been a long time since she had drank human blood. Mostly now it was animal blood but she had mixed it quiet expertly with wine, making the taste sweet. Uncorking it she laid back on the bed and swalloed the entire contents in a shot like fashion. Slowly her hands fell to her sides as her eyes tured a pure blue. SHe bit back a scream as her chest lifted making her back arch off of the bed and her head roll back.

"I see..." I nodded to Nicodemus. "This could be a worthy catch." As I didn't hear a location from Nicodemus, I began to say. "We'll go get any word about it in the next town. Might as well get a drink while we're at it, eh?"

"Now... Uhh.. I'm kinda naked under this towel, so... Later." The door soon shut, so I can change.

Nicodemus rolled his eyes and strode back to his room. None of these people seemed to appreciate the danger this thing posed. Of course, not many of them had seen what a Ghost Soldier did before even his first level of training was complete.

Tanya felt refreshed, after her (cold, dammit!) shower, and fresh leather bodysuit.

Still, there was little to do until they landed again. So, she propped her (bare) feet on her table, after having taken the whisky flask from her duster, which lay draped over her bed.

She sighed, sipped her drink, and dozed off again.

I got dressed in a large black shirt with a zipper running down the middle, a pair of black pants, and a pair of leather shoulder guards. Passing my hand thru my hair, I finally walked out. 'What to do now?' I wondered. I decided to check on Tanya.

I got infront of the door, and knocked 3 times. Nothing. My hand slid the door open, making note of the fact that it wasn't locked. I walked in, tip-toeing as to not let her hear me. I saw her sleep, and moved behind her. Placing both my hands to cover her eyes as she woke, I whispered. "Guess who?"

"Best be glad I know it's you, Boss."

Tanya smirked. Well, this was promising. Damien being playful. She sat up, pulling away from his hands.

"Ya know, I killed a man that did that ta me once. Plumb scared me so much, I caved his head in with my whisky flask."

She grinned.

"So to what do I owe this honor?"

"Ya know, I killed a man that did that ta me once. Plumb scared me so much, I caved his head in with my whisky flask."

"Yikes," I muttered. I flipped foreward, landing next to her in a sitting position.

"Jiyuu's on autopilot, and it'll take us an hour to get to the nearest town. So for now, I'm board outta my mind." I said, faking a yawn.

"How about you? What are ya up to, hm?"

She held up her silver flask.

"This is about it. Care for a drink?"

She offered the flask to him, then looked a little sheepish.

"I got me some glasses round here somewheres...."

She stood up, padding over to a small cabinet. She opened it, pulling out two shot glasses, then returned to sit next to Damien.

"OK, how bout now?"

"Can't complain." I smirked.

I poured the whisky into the glasses, and handed hers. I quickly took the shot, letting my head go back, as the brown liquid went down my throat.

She downs the shot of whisky in one gulp, and is impressed that he is able to do the same.

"More? Or is there something else on your mind? Ya know, you shoulda waked at least me today. Dunno what my guns woulda done against that dragon, but hell ... Look, in the future, don't go alone. Okay Boss?"

She looked him directly in the eyes, as she held her empty glass up for a refill.

I refilled her glass, and smiled. "Yeah. It was kinda stupid of me." I poured into my own. "But things turned out ok." I gulped the second shot. "In fact, if I'm drinking after surviving that ordeal, I'd say it went pretty damn well."

Tanya downed her second shot also.

"I'd say if you weren't drinking after nearly becoming dragon kibble than something was wrong with you."

She took charge of the flask, refilling her glass, and offering to fill his. She wondered if he was planning to drink her under the table. She almost hoped so, because she had been outdrinking men twice his size for years.

I laughed at her comment, and let her fill my glass again.

"So, for how long can you usually keep this up?" I asked, holding the filled glass up, before drinking it down.

She downed her shot, and grinned.

"Long as it takes. Back home, in Deadwood, we'd have all night drinking contests. I haveta tellya, more than once I greeted the rising sun with a raised shotglass. That, or puking my belly empty onto the street."

She smirked.

"If we only have an hours time, then it ain't long enough. I could go on for that hour, and more.
"But, you didn't come here just to drink, didya?"

"Heh." I took one more shot, and turned to face her. "I guess you know me... Just a little too well."

Suddenly, I pushed her gently, so she was laying on her back, and I was over her, keeping my weight up with an arm at each side of her.
