I am looking for a few interested writers to take part in a group thread. It will be in a fantasy setting, the story will center on a large elven city located in the northern reaches of the Camfert forest. The city is the only major settlement located in or near the forest; while the forest itself is currently inhabited by droves of orcs and goblins from the mountains in the south.
While I have a central storyline for the characters to progress through, I am equally as interested in character development (between the players and the NPC’s). I am planning on having the thread split about equal on story and sexual encounters (between players and NPC’s of course). Those that are interested should be able to post two paragraphs, be literate and in it for the long run. A knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons is always a plus, since world the character will be in is based off much of its material. I’m still looking to see if there is any interest in such a thread. If you are, please post in the thread and PM when your character idea. When I think there is enough interest I’ll go ahead and put up an IC thread. Thank you for taking the time and reading this.
This elven city is a sprawling metropolis built high into the trees. While its original design had three massive elevators enhanced and powered through magical means, only one is currently operational. The other two have been closed due to dwindling trade with nearby settlements (nearby is a relative term). Only two other civilized settlements within a month’s travel is the Deepdelver mine to the south (located in the mountains on the edge of the forest) and the college of arcane and divine endeavors typically referred to as simply “The Tower”, located far to the west (also near the border).
Population - Spindletop’s population is widely diverse. While elves compose nearly 70% of the population, with humans nearing 20%, and the rest of the nominal standard races (Halflings, half-elves, gnomes, half-orcs, and dwarves) filling in the remaining 10%.
Being originally built by elven hands, Spindletop is completely one with its surroundings. Built into ancient and massive trees, the buildings are built around the girth of the trunk and branches; while wooden platforms and bridges gap the space between. The city itself is broken up into three districts: The noble district, the commons, and the trade district.
The Noble district is the residential district for noble families and those with enough gold to buy said nobility. The city’s militia heavily patrols the lanes of the Noble district and crime is uncommon.
The Commons is a residential district for most others of low income, including commoners, unskilled labors, etc. Crime is rampant in the Commons and the militia does little to stop such. The further one travels into the Commons, the worse the conditions become.
The trade district houses all types of businesses from simple merchants, arms dealers, dealers of magical items, food and beverage, numerous Inns and taverns, and almost anything else (if one has the means to find it).
Note: More information about notable NPC's and establishments is forthcoming.
