Trump caves and halts tarriffs on Canada

Canada Caves in Another Victory for Trump on Tariffs/Border​

Just amazing what a REAL President can get done with a few phone calls.

Mexico bent the knee and caved to President Donald Trump's tariff threats. They agreed to send 10,000 National Guard soldiers to the border to help interdict illegal aliens and drugs from coming across into our country. In return, the U.S. agreed to put off tariffs for a month as they continued to work out the deal.

As per Trudeau: I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border. In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million. Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together.

That's what Trump wanted — to get some action on the issues — and now he has what appear to be some real commitments. He's showing the art of the deal, the power of strength, and that tariffs, in some situations, can carry a lot of weight. It's just that we've had Joe Biden and ineffective leadership for so long, we forget that you can actually not get rolled in deals. This is a pretty amazing win, and so much for the Democrats who were trying to whip up fear over the tariff approach. Hard to argue with success.

Lmao keep on it, the claim they promised his in December was because Trump issued the threat directly after being elected and no action was taken so he followed through and Call their bluffs while begging trump not to enforce the tariffs

Canada cannot station troops to the Can/USA border. Neither can the US. There is a treaty between both countries that troops may not be stationed within 30 miles on either side.

There are instances where this can be lifted, and in those cases (National Emergency etc) those troops cannot be armed.

If this little crisis showed anything he's a dumbfuck. Poiliever had no plan, all his action,either mimicked caving to Trump, or promising to do things which can't be done under international treaties. He didn't "lead" he followed.

JT might be past his BBD, but he handled this well. Like him or hate him. JT's gone, (good) but I'm not voting for a leader who hasn't got the idea's or balls to lead. Trump isn't going anywhere for 4 years. The hell if I'm voting for Poiliever now.

Well his candidate did have my vote, prior to this little ( whatever you wish to call it)... but after him flubbing the fuck out of it. Nope, sorry not while Trump is in the US. We can't afford that. Singh is also out. Hate to say it,but if Carney gets in I might just have swallow my pride and vote Liberal.

Not for us… the crisis is in the issue we want resolved and together we all can make a difference but yeah I’m fairly certain Poli will win your election
