Trump has also authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations in Venezuela.

The President of War needs another distraction from the Epstein Files, soon to be stored in the Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Hall currently being built over the White House East Wing.

An Aircraft Carrier-headed task force is overkill for sinking fishing boats, either he's sending a message to the Nobel committee to award him a Peace Prize or else, or major conflict is afoot. Maduro stole the presidency from the people. This buildup in military capability is in effect re-establishing the Monroe Doctrine which has been neglected for the last 5 decades. This military buildup is sending a message to China and Russia that we're back. It also puts pressure on Maduro, maybe coerce him to leave the country and restore political leadership to where it belongs. It also puts extreme pressure on drug cartels both on the open seas and inland. It also gives the US a presence when dealing with mid sea oil transfers to enforce sanctions against Russia. We can mine Venezuelan ports in a heartbeat. It also renders Maduro's military inept. We should have done this decades ago. IMHO There won't be any kind of ground invasion. Congress won't allow it. There are millions of Venezuelans who would provide intel on drug labs which could be subject to drone strikes.
