Trump Thinking About Putting USAID Under The State Department

For Arpy to "think" the Mexican border all of the sudden became immigrant proof on November 5th is top 3 of the dumbest things he's said here.

Not my fault you're intellectually dishonest with yourself.

What do you think? How long will she last before we can cremate the carcass?

I'd say if its no food, but water, she'll probably last longer than Bobby Sands 66 days. She's a bit of a whale.

USAID ordered to shut down by Friday as thousands of relief workers sent packing from more than 100 countries

The United States Agency for International Development has been ordered to shut down by Friday following Elon Musk's effort to dismantle the government relief service he labeled a 'criminal organization.' The State Department is now working diligently to recall thousands of staff members in more than 100 countries across the world, two sources familiar with the discussions told Reuters. The employees were told by Peter Marocco, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, that all USAID staff members and their families should be recalled back to the United States by Friday - though that deadline could be delayed.

If the State Department failed to bring home the foreign employees, the staff would be evacuated by the US military, according to CBS News. USAID employees in many bureaus at the agency's headquarters in Washington DC also received a memo that they are being placed on administrative leave, according to PBS NewsHour correspondent Lisa Desjardins. It said they must be available to report to work 'if directed to do so,' and must be available by phone and email during normal business hours. But they are 'not to enter USAID premises, access USAID systems or attempt to use your position or authority with USAID in any way without my prior permission or prior permission of a supervisor in your chain of command,' wrote Marocco, the newly-appointed deputy administrator for the agency.

By Monday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced he was taking over as acting head of the agency - which he said was 'completely unresponsive' as he accused staff members of being 'unwilling to answer simple questions' about its programs. He also informed Congress in a letter about the pending reorganization of the agency, saying some parts of USAID might be absorbed by the State Department while others will be completely abolished. That same day, USAID employees said they were locked out of the agency's computer systems. Those still in the system received messages to their work emails saying 'at the direction of Agency leadership' the headquarters building 'will be closed to Agency personnel on Monday, Feb. 3.'

More winning.

What was unconstitutional about Smith being special counsel?
Read Justice Thomas' opinion on the matter to find out. He was illegally appointed by Merrick Garland. I posted a link and parts of Ed Meese's amicus curiae on the matter then before the SCOTUS for review. Search my posts.

As long as he doesn't cut funding, it's within his rights
BS. The funding is discretionary. By law it's spending is supposed to align with US foreign policy goals and under State Department purview. So it is logical the Secretary of State should oversee it's operation.

Impoundment of funds allocated by Congress requires additional communication as well as time.

As Congress has created the agency, the President also is required to notify Congress of the reorganization.

Before it was shuttered, USAID routed funds to Soros-aligned causes, terrorists and drag queens

The development agency for years also funneled money to several nonprofit groups that also received substantial backing from components of George Soros’ empire.

Before the Trump administration closed USAID’s doors, the agency regularly routed funding to causes aligned with George Soros’ nonprofit empire, terrorists and drag queens.

The agency came under scrutiny from the new administration over failures to ensure transparency in its funding to organizations across the globe and concerns that the leadership was not responding to explicit policy directives from the State Department and the wider executive branch to align its programs with Trump policies and the U.S. national interest.

In recent days, the Trump administration identified USAID programs ranging from contraceptives for Afghanistan to LGBT diversity programs for European countries as clear evidence that foreign aid needed to be paused and reevaluated, a task that fell to the Rubio State Department.

The development agency for years also funneled money to several nonprofit groups that also received substantial backing from components of George Soros’ empire. Some previously came under scrutiny during the Obama administration for “democracy promotion” and judicial reform efforts in European countries that critics claimed promoted leftist politics.

No, I've tried searching your post before -- never turns up anything worthwhile.

After 8 pages including a substantial volume of hot air from all sides it seems entirely reasonable to transfer the responsibility for AID to State Dept. However, it is not at all clear who will audit future expenditure, or whether that function will be tasked within the State department. If not audited independently, it will be another slush fund within 5 years - but better hidden.

Democrats Are Realizing That Fighting Trump’s Dismantling of USAID Is a Losing Battle

Some Democrats are openly questioning whether their party has learned anything from their political losses last November as lawmakers mobilize to defend foreign aid and federal bureaucrats from DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts.

As President Donald Trump and DOGE chair Elon Musk take a wrecking ball to the U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID), most Democratic lawmakers have excoriated the president for seeking to hold an agency — whose funding is rife with waste and abuse — accountable.
But some Democratic strategists urge caution and have told their colleagues to think twice about whether defending foreign aid and USAID employees is the right hill to die on for a party that is struggling with working class voters and those in middle America.

“My heart is with the people out on the street outside USAID, but my head tells me: ‘Man, Trump will be well satisfied to have this fight,’” longtime Democratic strategist David Axelrod, who ran former President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns, told POLITICO’s Rachael Bade in an interview published Tuesday. “When you talk about cuts, the first thing people say is: Cut foreign aid.”
