Happy Thursday. I know, giving thanks. Funny thing is, with so fuckingdamned many people, they're only grateful if they got what they wanted. If they don't, they are total cunts. It began to dawn on Wat decades ago that when he has what he needs, that he really has what he wanted all along. Anything else is garnish.
It's great to have four days off all in a row. There's that rib roast which will hit the oven later. No invites for the day, but then Wat has been known to be quite content with doing nothing, and in doing it with no one in particular. The sun will be out later, so a trip around town on Morticia the HfD might be pleasant.
Everything is as it is. It has no name other than the name we give it. It is we who call it something; we give it a value. We say this thing is good or it's bad, but in itself, the thing is only as it is. It's not absolute; it's just as it is. People are just as they are.
When I first moved to New York in 1990, I knew a total of five people. They all had lives of their own—I couldn’t just plop myself down and demand their attention—and so I signed up for a once a week class taught at the West Side YMCA, hoping I could make a friend or two there. “Writing Funny,” the course was called, and it was taught by a British woman named Freda Garmaise who was maybe in her mid-sixties at the time, and had published several books.
“What are the rules of comedy writing?” she asked at the start of our first session.
I put my hand up. “You should never make fun of anyone who has less power than you.”
Freda looked at me the way I deserved to be looked at, with a combination of disgust and pity. “Where on earth did you get that idea?” she asked.
I groped for an answer. “The Village Voice, maybe?”
“No, no, no,” she said. “The only rule of comedy anything is that you always should be as tasteless as possible.”
~ David Sedaris
Allah damn it, Wat may have just had his calling pointed out to him, because being completely tasteless is right on my front burner and at a rapid boil. How easy is this???
Just popped in to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving, I hope you all get to spend time with your loved ones and are wearing your fat pants View attachment 2291154
Thank you very much for the kind wishes to your poor benighted neighbors to the south. Here we live in squalor and spend all our hard-earned money on guns-n-ammo so we can shoot one another to death and cause each other nothing but grief and suff'rin'. Our ethical challenges know no bounds. But hey, we're grateful as fuck for all of it. Thank you, Allah, for the chaos. It's what we wanted all along . . . .
Happy Black Friday!!! There may be one more BF deal out there calling Wat's name. Hey, if'n you can get a $900 item for $519, why not?
I see my way clear to rearrange a few things in here and to start demo'ing so I can install this new floor in here. It really will be a nice touch. I snagged enough flooring from the old job to redo the floors down here and upstairs too. It'll be nice to bid the old tired carpet adieu.
It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see….

I am grateful for what I am and have.
My thanksgiving is perpetual.
It is surprising how contented
one can be with nothing definite -
only a sense of existence.
Well, anything for variety.
I am ready to try this for the next
ten thousand years, and exhaust it.
How sweet to think of!
my extremities well charred,
and my intellectual part too,
so that there is no danger
of worm or rot for a
long while.
My breath is sweet to me.
O how I laugh when I think
of my vague indefinite riches.
No run on my bank can drain it,
for my wealth is not possession
but enjoyment.
Had some plans, kind-of plans. Recalculated. Fuck those plans. Watching a movie. There's birthday breakfast with the good little doctor tomorrow morning.
Anyone can blather on about what they're going to do. Wat is inclined to listen to their feet much more than their mouths.
Happy Saturday. Day #3 all in a row of not getting up to go to work. There will be breakfast with Dr. Tyler this morning. And there will be a resumption of getting some shit done around here.
I have coffee and there is a very old cat watching me from over there . . . .
Hostile attitudes only serve to heat up the situation, whereas a true sense of respect gradually cools down what otherwise could become explosive. We must recognize the frequent contradictions between short-term benefit and long-term harm.
Happy Sunday!!! Slept okay. Last day off, but it's been restful and productive. Wat has a shooping run, and he has begun the shooping list. Got an Amazon delivery last night. The box is on the floor and has a cat in it from time to time.
And there's coffee.
Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate.

Understanding and Love are not two separate things, but just one. To develop understanding, you have to practice looking at all living beings with the eyes of compassion. When you understand, you cannot help but love. And when you love, you naturally act in a way that can relieve the suffering of people.
