Turkish dictator Erdogan was in DC to ask Trump NOT to arm the YPG. The YPG is primarily against ISIS, but also sends a portion of their American arms to Kurds in Turkey trying to carve out an independent Kurdish state. Turkey feels that their long-time friend America is now arming their enemies. It's complicated.

Anyway, Erdogan then went to a reception at the Turkish embassy. Outside the embassy were American citizens of Armenian descent, who were protesting the 100th anniversary of Turkey's genocide against Armenia.

Peaceful American protest, free speech, First Amendment and all that.

Well, SOMEBODY in the embassy dispatched nine Turkish "security personnel" (all of them Turkish citizens with diplomatic passports) to go outside of the embassy and beat the everloving shit out of these American citizens, on American soil.

Major.
Fucking.
Diplomatic.
Incident.

The cops KNEW these guys had diplomatic immunity, so you can see them gently pushing these goons away from the bloodied protesters. (all but one cop, it seems, ONE cop didn't get the message, pulled out his baton and started whomping one of the thugs in the back...goon turned around amazed and said something to the affect of "WTF?")

The State Department is "reviewing footage". Typically these sort of thugs are declared Persona Non Grata and their diplomatic passports revoked, so they'll return home and feted as "heroes".

A video posted online by Voice For America shows men in dark suits chasing protesters and punching and kicking them as baton-wielding police tried to intervene.

Two men were bloodied from head wounds as bystanders tried to assist dazed protesters.
