Hi - I'm wondering if it's allowed to have a second user account. In general my current user name is associated with hetero and specifally incest. I've been messing around with some gay stories as well as soft trans and a couple of weird soft fetish stories as well. I don't want to post them against my account as I'm concerned it might muddy the waters for those who follow my stories (I get a decent read-through).
Is creating a "ghost" used for these others stories allowed or against TOS?
Thanks for any advice.

I've heard of several writers here with multiple accounts, so it seems to be OK.

Thanks. I might try that, then. It'll be in effect starting from scratch again but that's cool. (And I'm with you on the swollen WIP folder. I've got something like 100+ partials stuffed in there).

There are several authors who have admitted to having multiple accounts for various reasons.

I know of one who admitted to having an account, not for publishing any stories, but just for the purpose of leaving snarky comments of the stories posted by others! It's a named account, but with no published stories. And the comments are always hateful or insulting. When I engaged the insulter here in the forum, I asked why they don't post their own stories to show us what they think is good writing. The response was "I do have another account with my stories." But they won't give us the name of that second account, knowing some who they've trashed would retaliate by attacking their stories.

Some people are very insecure and overly sensitive.

I dare anyone to try hurting me with a nasty comment. "NOOOooo! Please don't press THAT key! I can't endure another asterisk!"

I have my account and we have a shared one for our collaborations with AMD, and I find it a pain in the ass to keep logging in and out of them to check stats. I wouldn’t bother just to write different genres, but then I am not very interested in marketing and self promotion and reader engagement and all that, so maybe it’s not good to listen to me in this.

"Mr President?"
"What is it, son. I'm busy."
"Ah, yes... sorry, sir. It's just there's a bit of an emergency."
"Well, spit it out - no, not you sweetheart."
"Sir, NASA - what's left of them - were just on the phone. They say there's an asteroid coming this way."
"An asterisk? One of those snowflake characters?"
"No, sir. An asteroid. It's a boulder the size of... well, a large boulder."

Keep each pen name logged into a different browser. Personally find it less of a pain than logging in, logging out.

And, yes...

You are going to split your readership, though. As you said, you're also going to be starting from scratch with the new name. I created LesLumens to have a place to put stories that weren't fantasy or a part of the larger story most of them tell. Then I created RR to see what I could do without name recognition from the other two, and kept it secret for a few years.

I have two accounts. The other account is for publishing stories that aren't really the kind that PapaRomantic would write. It's been used to publish story request from friends and others, but it never comments on other people's stories and doesn't post here in the forum.
