Type of Stories You'll Read on Lit

bisexplicit,
Background is fluff. I once read a story about a young woman who learns to control the minds of her peers. It began several years before the story started and spent four pages out of six detailing her growing sexuality - none of which had anything to do with the story.
well, that's just poor editing, really.
When I write, I often find myself writing tons of that side stuff. it's fun to work it all out in my mind- but it does nothing but nothing for the reader.
I cut it all back out again, sometimes with great sorrow.
I've seen many a volume of indie erotica untouched by the hand of any editor, and I think it sucks.

complete sex stories

I know I"m getting in to this discussion late, but I'll jump in anyway. It's an excellent question but one that is difficult to answer. For some readers, its a turn-off but for others, it is appreciated. I'm having a problem with several of my stories, not sure if Lit is where I want them to be read or not. They're quite long but without the background, the story is flat and almost boring. Let's face it, there are only so many ways to describe ass pounding sex, etc. and to me, the time to develop my characters makes the story so much more believable and more than just "porn" I once read that the only difference between porn and erotica is that erotica has a plot and believable characters. It's a tough call and I"m not sure of my own choices yet. Good luck and remember, always write for yourself first.

I once gave a story to a man I know and trust, judgement-wise. To me it was a really hardcore piece, with forced masturbation and spooky in-the-woods action. HE was bored outta his mind. I wrote him a dd-cup tits story which bored me- and he liked it.
As I browse around on the story list, I'm finding a few stories that get me off and a lot of stories that turn me off. That's just the way it goes, you know- there is definitely something for everyone here!

an average day has 75 new stories. I find about 5 worth reading past the first paragraph, about 2 I really like, or get aroused by. But I bet others , while finding similar odds, like a different few than I do.

For me it depends on my mood. I've read half-page long stories that I've liked, and I've read long meandering epics that I've also liked. Sometimes I'll just open up an epic story I liked and jump straight to the sex scenes, and sometimes I'll just read the whole thing again.

I mean, after all, sometimes a guy just wants to get his rocks off. Sometime he wants to read a good story. Think of this as either watching Star Wars or fast forwarding to the Death Star battle at the end, I've done both. :D
