Yes, it is. It's a replacement for an older player I had.
I still dread the possibility of giving up the old one, though. It's just so... familiar.

True enough.
I like the Shuffle so far, though. It randomly fills with music when I plug it into a USB port, so I'm listening to things I normally wouldn't throw in there on my own, and generally experiencing more of my music collection than I used to. This is a good thing all on its own.

Discovering new ways to play is always a good thing
I got my kids a couple of those for xmas, I think the earphones have permanently attached themselves to their ears, and got my bf a portable hard drive thing that doubles as a mp3 player and it can take over the radio in the car. It's pretty cool.
