Make sure there be parts available, and a good wrench (as opposed to Goodwrench) as needed. Points, plugs, condensers, coils, and batteries. That should keep it going for quite awhile.

Flying spares has the factory parts and reproduces them to high standards. World renowned levels of quality.

Myself I'd get rid of the problem bits when rebuilding. The dual hydraulic ride leveling and braking systems are problematic and unnecessary. Air bags for the ride leveling are simpler and longer lasting without issues. Brakes could easily be converted to a standard GM vacuum booster type on the firewall instead of the antiquated rat trap linkage under the floorboard.

The "6 3/4" V8 is fine but if you want flash, drop in one of the BMW V12's they're putting in the Seraphs and newer RR's. Same size engine compartment so it should fit. Only problem is the electronics but there may be a workaround for that. Custom intake with a 6-pack of Delorto's and a crankshaft triggered ignition setup like the 1990's corvettes used. It'd be bad ass in both looks and power.

It's doable, the only questions are whether my pocket is deep enough and if I have enough time to complete it.

I'm thinking of a 70-ish three quarter ton, as long as it hasn't rotted off the frame.

You and everyone else who prices a new truck and decides that having a home to live in is preferable.

California has made my "dream truck" impossible to own. I want an early narrow nosed Pete with a small/non turbo Cummins in it. Unfortunately, here in California if it's a diesel powered commercial vehicle older than 10 years, the State won't register it for use on the highway.

If it's not diesel powered, you have to smog it 4X per year. Even motor homes have to be smogged. F450 and up for pickups too. It's part of the EV only by 2036 mandate.

I agree with this.

Canada is a cultural mosaic which sounds lovely, but it also means clerks in stores jabbering in punjabi to each other.

Quebec has the assimilation and their culture first part right.

You say that as if it's a terrible thing.
