Nice pic, Rawhide. Your own work or culled from somewhere? I'm sure some of the ladies would help pass the time until the next eclipse with a photoshoot or three.

I'm not afraid of a little water..*****long Seattle resident! Oddly enough, we've always gone in October and December, and it never fails to be nicer weather up there.Vancouverite said:Bring an umbrella!
Have you tried walking around Kitsilano, Hericho Beach and the lands around UBC? Its stunning (even in the rain) and free!
Lots of restaurants and bars (many now open into the wee hours). Which part of the city will you be staying in, downtown or further out? Own transport? What's that great curry place down around west 4th?
LastoftheGreatMikeys said:SweetErika, there is Queen Elizabeth Park and Van Dusen gardens for flowers and stuff, you might enjoy going to the UBC museum of anthropology or the planetarium too. Science world is kinda fun and has the big Imax theater in it. Granville Island is a great place for scenery and shopping. The False Creek seawall is a nice walk for a couple of hours.
As for restaraunts, it's really personal taste. There's tons of them of all sorts of ethnicities. Go nuts. Just stay away from The Prow. You'll have to sell your house to pay for dinner.

Sadly I missed it due to being over on the island..![]()

I haven't been to Kitsilano, Hericho Beach, or around UBC. Isn't there an excellent Museum of Anthropology at UBC? Is there anything specific we should see in those neighborhoods?
I'm not sure where we'll be staying, but we'll have a car and know the Skytrain system well.
I'd love a fairly inexpensive Indian/curry suggestion...hubby has been craving it since he returned from the UK.
Thank you for your help!
chittylove said:hey erika! a couple of good indian restaurants are chutney villa (which is south indian, so a little lighter and not so cream heavy curries....but so very yummy and very reasonable)....which is on broadway and main.
the other good tip is rangoli. it's part of a more expensive but amazing indian restaurant called vij's, and it's the cafe part that's only open for lunch, and you can also take home packages you can heat up (sorta like boil in a bag!!). i believe you can eat in till 4pm and it's very reasonable and super yummy! it's on 11th and granville.
feel free to pm me for more restaurants....i eat out a lot and am a bit of a food junkie! we have tons of restaurants that are high in quality but very reasonable.....and lots of good off the beaten path places to explore your taste buds in!
yes there is the museum of anthropology at ubc. haven't been yet but will on the next day i'm a tourist in my own city. btw, it's jericho beach, not hericho, just so you don't get confused and not find it!
how long are you here for? if you have time, take a day trip up to whistler! it's a gorgeous drive and it's not too busy there right now.

SweetErika, Vij's is great! I have no idea where your hubbie was in the UK, but its the closest I have found to a typical Mancunian style curry (remnids me lots of Rusholme). Or you can head to Surrey, one hell of a lot of places there.
Or just walk along Denman from Burrard Inlet down to English Bay. A great little walk, lots of places to peer into and you can get something from Cupcakes (which is great, if you like cupcakes!)
Been to the museum at UBC. Only so many arrow heads you can look at though. Maybe the big, long, hard totem poles are more your thing?
If you're lucky we'll ahve some snow on the mountains too!
Oh, Seabus to North Vancouver and a mooch around Lonsdale Quay?
