Nope, I'm still at home unfortunately! My husband hasn't been able to get two consecutive days off...he has two weeks of vacation, but his boss won't approve taking any of it right now. Needless to say, he's looking for a new job!

What a gyp!
The weather has been lousy this week, with heavy rain, but today it has brightened up considerably, the sun glints off the glass high rises out of my office window and puffy white clouds are playing tag over North Vancouver. In fact the only clouds I can see in the sky are around and beyond the north shore mountians (but then as my office looks north that isn't saying much!)

I posted here a while back, and I look in on the thread from time to time but I never say anything and I was feeling kind of guilty. So I just thought I'd say hello, and glare at Vancouverite for jinxing us back to freezing rain today after he described that lovely (but very short-lived) clear, sunny weather we had. Thanks a lot!

You've got me there, Vancouverite. I'll admit it -- cold days are definitely best for snuggling in bed.

I guess the problem only arises when one finds themselves rather lacking in snuggling partners.

When was the last time a woman at University couldn't find a snuggling partner? When I was at college we had only gone co-ed a few years before and the men far outnumbered the women. And most women were related to men who'd previously attended the college, so tended towards the 'rugby' body style.

If you can't find anyone there, you can always come and snuggle with us, though, Carillon.

Okay Vancouverite, I give up . . . what is a "rugby" body style?

We had a women's rugby team when I was in high school, but from what I can remember there was never one dominant body type.

Oh, rugby players (at least the forwards) tend to be heavy, thick set people who wear tape around their heads to stop their ears being pulled and bitten in a scrum.
Bascially, I mean that the ladies who attended my college just after it went co-ed would have had no problem playing in the guys rugby XV (and its not joke about hookers, before you ask.)

I would never have suggested it, having actually been a rugby player (if only briefly). I've been on the receiving end of one too many "hooker" jokes myself, especially considering I never even played the position. I was usually fullback or number eight in my years, though I played a good bit of both blindside and openside flanker too.

Still, I don't remember most of our players being terribly heavy OR thick-set . . . sure would have made a few tackles easier if I had been, though.

Hmm . . . come to think of it, that rugby body thing might have something to do with why we never did very well . . . lol

Oh well. I've probably played more than my share of team sports, and it's as true in sports as it is in life: "You win some, you lose some."
