......no not much after the gold ran out. The ground in the area is not particularly fertile...rather scrubby except for a few places.
Corrugated iron was a favoured roofing material for those who could afford it, later in the 1800's. Strong and quick to 'apply'. Before that: hardwood shingles, stringybark sheets pegged down, from tree of the same name; the wood of the tree is excellent.
