OK. Time to crow a bit. Me & Mrs. 6 just found out that she is due with our first child in Mid-December. (uhh-thankyuh, thankyuh vurry much)

So, as any of you that have kids know, the nips are so sensitive that she says it feels like she's using sandpaper on them just wearing a t-shirt or a bra.

Any suggestions? Any kind of numbing cream that will work and is safe for the baby? Honestly, I'm asking for her sake. As much as I love licking her nipples, I've already resigned myself to giving up that pleasure for awhile. I just want to see if there is a way to lessen her discomfort.

Thanks...

This is something you really need to ask her doctor, but I'd imagine something that contains a topical anesthetic like benzocaine (in oral products like oragel or ambesol, and those for cuts/bug bites) would help some. A pharmacist could help you choose the right product as well, but I'd check with the doc just to make sure everything's safe and there's not something more effective available by prescription.

Congratulations! :rose:

There are also special bandages that can go over nipples in these kind of cases. They use them sometimes for post breast reconstructions or a girlfriend of mine used to have trouble wearing her basketball jersey. It's another option from the numbing cream in case one or the other doesn't work for her. Maybe using the numbing cream in the day and sleeping with the bandages?

congratulations! i bet you guys are really excited about your new (pending) addition. i hope the pregnancy and birth are easy and healthy... and i hope you have a healthy, happy child.

as far as the nipples go... robin williams said, about his wife when she was pregnant, that she put her breasts off limits to him. she said, "no, no... those are for the baaaaaaaaaby."

I know you can use a cotton ball to hide an erect nipple through the shirt. However, you might be able to use them just to separate anything from touching her nipples and since it's cotton, they're going to be soft.

Been there, done that. My breasts were very sensitive during my first pregnancy.

Honestly, I don't know about numbing creams. It's not a choice that I would have made during any of my pregnancies. I'd check with her doctor.

It may make her feel better to know that for some women, breast sensitivity doesn't last for the entire pregnancy. I was fine after about the 13th week, and during my subsequent pregnancies, my breasts weren't sensitive at all. Your wife's mileage, of course, may vary.

Congratulations. :rose:
