You were pretty much on the money... except for the "young" girls part.

Hey Nineteen
That's 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember
The Queen of Soul
It's hard times befallen
The sole survivors
She thinks I'm crazy
But I'm just growing old

But I do like my live music, and a university town works just fine for that.
Oh, honey, this is soooo rich!!! My husband and i were watching "Shop Girl" tonight... really a rather droll movie... but we were discussing why Claire Danes would undoubtedly end up with Jason Schwartzman and not Steve Martin... and hubby quoted that exact song! How on target was Mr. Fagen? My oh my... Hey, 19!

Synchronicity. ;)

Thankfully I didn't suffer the mid-life "live my life again" crisis. I do just fine with my peers. And... as anyone who pays attention knows, the female of the species starts becoming really "interesting" after 40. :cathappy:

I AM NOT blushing!

Oh yeah! Dada I know - My Secret Life is what I'm most familiar with. Snyder I'll be sure to check out. But I'll take your word and recommendation. Speaking of eclectic tastes... I'm impressed, but then again I always have been. :rose:

No worry there, hon... I agree with the wine analogy. You can only imagine what a woman of experience knows how to do :p

Actually, they locked several songwriters in for a weekend, then compared what they wrote, and Barry McGuire won... congrats, Barry, you have written the "official" anthem for Haight Ashbury! Yeah, right!

I've never been to SF, never worn flowers in my hair... but have dropped numerous tabs and have 'freed my mind' as Lennon would have said.... honey, I lived the 60s, and 70s.... and enjoy playing name that tune.... gie me a toughie.... like Sky Saxon and the Seeds... or ? and the Mysterians.... :p

Hmm....hows about:

"Je vais je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Et je
Me re-
Tiens"
I know, cheating, but anyone who lived through the 60s and 70s should know it...especially anyone listening to KLIT

Sorry, sweetie... we were into the heavy stuff then... Hendrix, Cream, Zepplin... no time for French poufs like Gainsbourg... but thank you for being able to go soooo obscure!

Hey, Serge wasn't a pouf...he was a....umm....well he propositioned Whitney Houston on live television, thats more than Robert Plant's ever done.

I'd like to go to India
Live in a big white house in the forest
Drink gin and tonic and play a grand piano
Read a few books
Far from what saddens my heart
Try to live away from it

Also probably not obscure enough.
