Vets and newbies

Quick history, hon (though I imagine some of our Brit friends can do it better).... The Union Jack is the flag of Great Britain, and is a combination of the flags of England, Scotland, and Wales. The flag in that post is St. George's Cross, the flag of England. Now, I know that four countries (musn't leave out N. Ireland) make up Great Britain... but how does that differ from the United Kingdom?

Well I never knew that. I've only seen the Union Jack flying in various official things on TV, although I must confess that I rarely pay attention to such things.

However, if you'd like to give me history lessons, let me curl up next to you while you explain all that historical stuff to me. ;)

"Playing for fun"... now that is a concept that unfortunately is lost on so many these days, what with parents pushing their kids to suceed, coaches demanding high school kids commit to just one sport, etc. etc.

Again, that is one of the most appealing things about Ronaldihno. He looks like he is having a hell of a lot of fun out there! :D

Yeah, it is pretty rare these days. Ofcourse when I played I wanted to win, but the important thing was that I had fun, win or lose. Had I played in HS, they wouldn't have had to of demanded I only play one sport, that would have been all that I had time for.

Oh yeah, Rolandinho does look like has a great time. You can tell that he loves to play. I think that's true of the entire Brazilian team, but it's extremely evident in Rolandinho.

LOL Ninja sword but a good one LBM. Going to be heading to a funeral for an aunt tomorrow.

Great Britain comprises 3 countries.... England, Wales and Scotland.... and the adjecant islands owned by each.

Add Northern Ireland and you have the United Kingdom.

Southern Ireland (or Eire... or the Republic of Ireland) is a totally different nation.

The Union Jack is the flag of the United Kingdom.

Each country has it's own flag.

England's is a red cross on a white background.

Scotland's is a white diagonal cross on a blue background

Wales' is the welsh dragon

And Northern Ireland's is the cross of St George with their crest on it

It IS very confusing... and I hope that clears things up a bit... hope it helps.

Any questions PM me.... I don't want to clog up LBM's wonderful thread. :)

The US game was great, would have been much better if they ejected that Ref. That ref probally had armed guards on leaving the stadium, for his own safety ofcourse.

Didn't see the Brazil game though.

How are you?

Trip down mamory lane

I missed your return, but it's been delicious journey catching up.....as sexy as ever :rose:
