I've always found most of the philosophers to be downers. I guess when you try to figure out how human beings work, then you're bound to be disappointed and depressed.

My favorite philosophy was one I discussed with a guy several years ago. He said that all humans are divided into two groups, the pumps and the plungers. He went on to say that these groups are lonely. Plungers are always looking for pumps and pumps are always looking for plungers and when they get together, they find happiness or at least pleasure for a time.

That pretty much sums up the human condition at least in his mind.

Quick history, hon (though I imagine some of our Brit friends can do it better).... The Union Jack is the flag of Great Britain, and is a combination of the flags of England, Scotland, and Wales. The flag in that post is St. George's Cross, the flag of England. Now, I know that four countries (musn't leave out N. Ireland) make up Great Britain... but how does that differ from the United Kingdom?
