Well, I'll echo the fact that I believe that StarGazer has made noble efforts here on the Literotica message boards. So, I think the next challenge for him is to see if he can organize a game of "strip twister" for all of us folks who are participating on the Virginia and Maryland message threads. Now that would definitely be an interesting social event to attend. Some might even think it would be the social event of the season ....

You and Four Flags must be expecting a miracle. lol. The only thing that could get organized from Lit would be a sausage fest playing Twister. Even if there was a balanced ratio of men to women on Lit, most people on Lit only want to live in the fantasy world, not experience real life. For myself, I have never understood that thinking but have to respect their boundaries.

Several years ago I tried to organize a happy hour but there were no women interested so it never happened. I agree that an evening playing "Adult Twister", Strip Poker or even reliving our youth and playing spin the bottle would be a fun social event.

Let's put it out there. Who would be willing to host a private gathering of Lit members and who would be interested in attending, the festivities?

Four flags you may appreciate this. In honor of finally getting some snow after over 2 years of none, I made some of my world famous chili. Part of the recipe calls for 2 bottles of beer. I used Guinness Stout and it came out really good.Now I need to open a bottle of oatmeal stout.

Around here it was mainly just ice. Started snowing, then changed to sleet and then snowed a bit more and then sleeting again so got about 2 inches of snow and about 2 inches of ice on my car windows this morning.

Snow Days? Who has snow days anymore?

I was listening to the radio on Monday morning for and when they came to school closings they more or less said that schools were closed, but it was also a virtual learning day for a number of the students. Similarly, my employer doesn't have snow days anymore, everyone who can just works from home, and most of us can.

I think the traditional snow day that we used to have a kids is gone, and the same is true for those of us who remember the days before you could remote into work.

Snow and Chili just go together just like cold beer and a sunset at the beach. I made my Chili in the crockpot to let it simmer for several hours. I found a recipe for a sweet cornbread which came out really good. Yummm.

Has the leftovers for lunch yesterday so my chili is all gone, otherwise I would run some down to you.

Slipping into a Coma ...

OK people,

There hasn't been any activity on this thread in a couple of days, and it seems to regressing back into a subconscious state and heading for a coma. Rather than bang my head against the wall join the thread by putting myself into a coma due to brain trauma, I'm going to try to pump some life back into the thread.

Since we are on a sex chat board, ideally everyone here is interested in sex in one form or another, so we might as well try to bring the board back to life with a sex related question or two -- that always people posting (well, probably more the men than the women). So let's create a hypothetical sexual encounter opportunity and see how each one of us would respond

You have been chatting on this thread for a long time, and the Social Director for this thread (StarGazer58) has decided to hold a social event for all of us who are participating on the Virginia board. He is somewhat in a quandary as to where to host a meet and greet for all of us here, and he wants to pick a location that maximizes everyone's ability to participate. He also needs some help picking out the venue, as well as any organized activities that we could do as a group. Your job is to help him come up with the following:

a) A time of year when it would be best to meet (time of year influences the location)

b) A general location within Virginia -- it could be a town or Lat/Long, or somewhat more descriptive such as the beach (name the beach) or the mountains (name the mountains).

c) The length of the meet and greet -- 4 hours, 8 hours, 1 day, 2 day or some other suggestion.

d) A general venue that could host a meet and greet, such as a restaurant, a resort, a hotel that is near the general location that you chose.

e) Suggestions for how we could get to know each other better -- some type of ice breaker exercises to break the initial tension of not knowing each other very well face to face.

Even if we don't ever do this for real, it will be interesting to see how creative we are in terms of coming up with places within the state. Too bad that we don't live in Rhode Island or Delaware, since those states you can drive anywhere within 1 hour or less.

I know StarGazer58 is looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with, even himself.

It is a great idea but the problem, as always, is getting some women to actually show-up, otherwise it will be a sausage fest. For me, it would have to be something in the DMV area. I believe that VA has the better selection of happy hour spots.

It is a very vague memory now but I do remember reading about a group of Lit users doing some sort of weekend get together. They were coming in from all over the US but I think they were a close group on Lit so it was like a group of friends.

I don't know when things will open up again but a beer fest could be something to do since it there is beer involved and if people wanted to break off it would be easy to do and the different beers could be a topic of conversation.

The real problem with any type of real life meeting is most Lit users just want to live in the fantasy world and not experience life so very hard to generate interest.

Why are you limiting that statement just to Lit members?

What I mean by that is how many people really follow their dreams?
Most of the people I've encountered in my life have been socialized by the time they are in their early 20s to want to achieve the conventional things that they've been told they should want. Most people want to get married, agree to the conventional restrictions on their sexuality in order to be married, and then go off and lead lives of quiet desperation. Since this is a literary site (or so we pretend), I thought it would be appropriate to quote Thoreau.

Most folks, including myself, put emotional security, economic stability, physical safety, and domestic partnership way ahead of a life filled with adventure. While we would all like to be James Bond, we probably are closer to Walter Mitty, for those who are familiar with the James Thurber character. Thurber published "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" in the late 1930s, and by that time the American ideal was to be a college educated professional man who had a house in the suburbs and took the train into the city for his work, and returned home in the evening to his wife and children, and let's not forget the family dog. Those are the core American values and lifestyle that we supposedly go to war and sacrifice our lives to protect. Or at least it used to be before the definition of marriage and a family were extended to more non-conventional arrangements, those non-conventional arrangements are very much in he minority.

I've looked through enough profiles on dating sites to see how well ingrained it is in our society. For example, I see tons of ads where divorced women who claim to be financially stable and independent are still looking for "the one" to marry, as though there was a fantasy person that is out there that will meet whatever needs you have. That fantasy is really ingrained in us -- since in all honesty, I don't think you can have a successful relationship with anyone without putting in a fair amount of work to resolve the daily conflicts that arise from living together, and once the oxytocin wears off, it will get dull and routine.

What do people do? They escape the stable lives they've sacrificed so much to create and come here, where they can safely play act their sexual fantasies out and not threaten their dull, tranquil, domesticity. I'm not critiquing their choices, I'm just saying that -- have they ever stopped to question their assumptions on what they really want from life?

Where do those assumptions come from?, Why do I believe what I do?, and the most important one -- was my whole socialization process from birth till I graduated from high school, just a big brain washing exercise to tell me to support a set of values that may run counter to my actual desires in life?

Just food for thought. I don't think it's just Lit users. With the exception of a few courageous souls in our society, most of us sacrifice what we want for what we have been told is acceptable to want in our society.

I agree with most of what Northvaman wrote. I believe a lot of the social norms have been built over hundreds if not thousands of years. Up until maybe the last 100 years or so, those norms were built because that is almost the only way you could survive and thrive, especially for women. Through most of history people lived on farms or small towns so teaming up with someone made life easier, if not essential. Not saying that both parties did not work their asses off but rather the division of labor made it easier so getting married, having kids, a house, etc made sense and that became the norms of society

When you lived on a farm or in a small town, at least Europe/America there was no practical way to indulge in any sexual fantasies so most likely those thoughts just got suppressed and thus never became accepted in society. In Japan they had the concept of Yobai (Night Crawling) where at night, young unmarried men would silently enter houses with young unmarried women. A man would silently crawl into a woman's room and make his intentions known. If the woman consented, they would sleep together. By the morning he would leave. I think that Japan was more open to sexual activities.

Personally, I am not much into Cybering. To me writing about a kiss is no substitute for an actual kiss so if you can find someone to break the monotony and mundane of everyday life, even if it is just meeting for coffee and flirting, why not indulge that fantasy rather than just living in a dream world. Add a little spice to life if possible.

I enjoy Danny Kaye in the Life of Walter Mitty. Anybody remember the Ralph Phillips and Little Audrey cartoons where their imaginations would run Walter Mitty like?
