Amazon.com shows it as being out of print, but there seem to be plenty of used copies available for $1 or so...

Not available where I live :(

I read the author's Good Scent from a Strange Mountain 6 years ago and found it quite interesting. Short stories told from the points of view of relocated Vietnamese living in St. Charles, LA (I *think* it was St. Charles).

Hmmm...maybe we might have to rotate my copy..(kidding, well kind of :D )

Book

I asked in my local library - am still wating to hear back. Perhaps a look on Amazon - that's only just occured to me!

Okay! The best place I've found to get a copy of the current title in question is half.com... Already ordered my copy, and I paid less than $3 for it including the shipping.

IT'S ALIVE!!! (In my best Young Frankenstein voice...)

Hey, sheheri* and everyone else--I got my copy a few days ago off of the Amazon zShops or whatever they call it--for just $1 (from a used book shop in my state). I have to say that at first, I was thinking that the novel seemed a bit 'highbrow'--but within the first few pages, I've become pretty well hooked! Thanks to tendril--hope others can get a chance to read it soon, and I'll post comments as soon as I can...

Further recommendations

BTW, thanks to a certain poster on this thread, I recently bought and devoured a book called 'Topping from Below.' Took me about three days to finish it...as the title suggests, it's kind of a BDSM novel, and yet kind of not...at least, it's a mystery/thriller with some SERIOUS BDSM themes and subplots. I recommend it highly!

You can say it, Roman... it was me! The author of the book is Laura Reese, if anyone is interested.

OK, a very public THANKS to sheheri*...but a word of warning...some of the BDSM scenes in the book are rather, umm, intense!

I'm pleased you've got a copy at least ! I'm kind or going over the book again myself right now. :)

They Whisper

First, tendril, thanks for recommending the book, even though it's apparently out of print and hard to find:p ! I haven't even come close to finishing it yet, but a few initial thoughts:

I'm not a big fan of the stream-of-consciousness style of writing--never could get into James Joyce in high school--but some of the narrator's thoughts do resonate with me. It's interesting to think back on women whom I've met, even in passing, and remember how certain sensations like smells, and contacts, are what linger the most.

Also, I've had the experience of visiting an Asian massage parlor (AMP in the lingo) here in the U.S. and one in Asia, and the description of the women, the experience, etc. are very authentic! It's an interesting cultural experience, for any man who's interested!
