You bad girl - how will you ever make recompense?

I'm sure given time you could think of something to suit a crime of this magnitude.

The saucyness of your repost indicates a complete underestimation of the true magnitude of your dereliction. You must surely realise that it is your responsibility to offer up a suitable penance, not lie back and await the judgment of others.

(where did that waffle come from ;))

But hell, no time like the present is there?

This story would not have been picked by me as of choice.

I dont normally favour the 'control' angle . I feel this control thing wasnt fully developed enough for me to be convinced and able to get into the story.

However I didnt mind the husband being 'a throw away' character, I kind of had him taped as the strong silent type (well it worked for me !).

Now what I really did like was the way Lucy's thoughts were bracketed, it added another layer to the story and he did it well. His thoughts were pretty much on the ball for a guy taking a woman's angle.

I also liked the sex...:D well described and believable.

Ok, I give it a 6.

How refreshing to see wisdom prevail - at least though it's given the thread a bit of life :)

Thanks guys--this kind of banter has no place in this thread, dedicated as it is to the academic and intellectual study of Very Serious Topics;)

OK, tendril, I think you just earned the privilege of selecting the next story for everyone to read. <KIDDING--unless you really want to!>

I wonder how the author seemed to get the 'woman's angle' so accurately--anyone (especially women) want to point out what made Lucy so authentic? I'm writing a story from the woman's perspective, and I am so completely unqualified to talk about the 'woman's angle' on things...

Also, on your point about control, I'm still unsure about whether this story would be classified as 'non-consentual' or not...I think that the actual 'control' was providing Lucy with the excuse to fulfill her innate desires, which she could justify by thinking that she was being 'controlled.' Someone else I've talked to mentioned the connection between empathy and dominance--that perhaps dominance can be exerted by someone who detects another's secret 'kink' and then provides the outlet for it.

OK, have we tapped out this story? Or this entire thread? Or is someone going to introduce us all to a new story? Based on my track record, it seems that recommending a mediocre story to read is better than none at all...:D

No - I've put my oar in. Anyway, we are on the edge of our seats wondering what your choice will be. ;)

Do you have any suggestions, Richard?
We read one story (if you scroll back a few pages, you'll see the discussion) and are waiting for suggestions.
Seems like this thread was conceived based on a desire to read real books, mostly novels. As a compromise, we read something online.

I have no suggestions

I thought tendril was picking something

ta da!

My choice is 'They Whisper', a novel by Robert Olen Butler.

'They Whisper is an astonishingly rare thing in this sex-conscious age: a serious work of literary art that directly, unflinchingly and lyrically addresses the subject of modern heterosexuality.

The result is a compelling, profound and timely examination of human sexuality, and, not incidentally, one if the most rapturously erotic books of our time.'

The above are snippets quoted from the flyleaf.

This book I found both fascinating and disturbing, I enjoyed it immensely, perhaps as it was a real departure from my usual pick.
