We Survived - (An OOC Casting Call)

Having watched Shaun of the Dead one time too many, I wouldn't mind joining in. Assuming there is a space available.

If Tears is still looking for her hubby, I am willing to fill that role. Otherwise, I can find someone else 'to play with'.

Good start, but I might hold off on my intro, maybe until a few people get together and run into Jayden somewhere unusual. I guess it's a bit difficult to write the third "oh my, zombies!" post and have it be exciting, especially after that. Plus he wouldn't be shocked anyway.

Then again I was kind of considering making a young late teens/20ish guy just to have a more normal character too.

Hey Icey-sama!

I won't be able to join any rp's until the 10th of August, but I am so interested in this!

Is there a possibility of me joining in after the 10th as a "found" person along the way?

^-^" (pretty please?)

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs51/f/2009/312/3/5/35a642f62a09fb8ec66175a072fe5b20.jpg
Name: Unknown (calls herself "Janna Clearwater")
Age: Unknown (looks to be between 23-26)
Height: 5'2''
Weight: Unknown
Appearance: full body.

Personality: Not much is known about Janna; in fact, nothing is known about this mysterious white haired girl. Her eyes are not normal, almost appearing to be soul-less and pale. Always wearing the same attire, and hair always in a ponytail, the girl can come off as a bit creepy. Her expressionless face does not help.
Janna also has a deep scar, almost looking like a scratch on her neck, which she keeps hidden at all times. She also barely speaks, and also seems to have a strange obsession with the mysterious scientist.

It also seems that Janna has lost her long-term memory, and isn't sure about why she came to Royal Oaks, how she got her scar or why she feels compelled to follow the scientist. The girl barely eats, but seems to always be very dehydrated...

Perhaps this young woman holds the key to ending the virus?
Or maybe she's just another victim to the killer disease's wrath and fury...

Only time will tell............

Bio: Royal Oaks. A quiet, sleepy town. A place to kick back and relax without anybody ever disturbing you. Yes. This town seemed to be a perfect place...to think.

If only she could think.

Janna arrived in town with a fistful of cash and a photo of a brown-haired man with his face cut out, yet, the brown-haired girl in the picture remained intact. Her throat was hoarse, almost unbearable to talk..her memories of where she was before..who she was. Gone.
The day she arrived was July 4th, 2010. The day of celebrating one's own country. Yet; America didn't seem like a place to call "home". Perhaps it was the sun's beaming rays that made her feel distant, dizzy. She needed a place to rest.

God almighty, was she ever thirsty!

After walking a considerable pace, her slipper-like shoes stopped at a quaint, little bed and breakfast. A perfect place for a hot bath, a warm bed and a quick bite to eat. It was then she realized at the counter..she couldn't remember her name, much less speak in a clear, loud voice.

What happened to her voice?
What was her name?

With a small, whispery murmur, came the name "Janna..Janna Clearwater".

Ignoring the vicious look of confusion upon the innkeepers wrinkled face, the quiet woman approached her room, inviting herself inside and quickly towards the small, cramped bathroom. After undressing herself, it was then she noticed her "irregularities". White hair, pale, violet-coloured eyes...pale skin. This was not what humans looked like! What was even more irregular was the scar along the base of her neck. Jagged, crooked-looking. Like someone took a dull knife and ripped through her skin...

Surely one would remember such a scar...

After the shower, trying desperately to quench her thirst, yet strangely not feeling hungry, she went to bed. Her mind working over-time to figure out the mysterious puzzle that shrouded her lost memories.

Special Skills:
- As you all may of guessed; Janna is immune to the Zombie effect, meaning that she "is" a zombie, yet; does not possess the traditional qualities of a zombie.
(Yes, she can "walk" amongst the zombies without being attacked, but cannot "lure" them away from her traveling companions- she just smells like death).

- Janna has yet to realize this, but she can smell large hordes of zombies approaching. She can also run quite fast, but needs water or something equivalent to keep up her stamina. (Blood is a no-no since one drop drank can make her turn "fully" into a zombie).

- Janna also has the ability to smell humans who are still alive and can also hear more than the average human being. This can come in handy if zombies are hiding somewhat. The only downside to "smelling humans", is that if a human is "bitten", she cannot smell the virus itself. Therefore; her traveling companions must heed caution.

Wow, great first posts you guys!

I'll be at Eagles Training Camp all day today, but will post asap when i return.

I like Reiha's profile. Very unique. I'll just offer my 2c and hope you let her use it, despite it probably not being what you expected.

Alright here's the other character. I assume it's okay to have a second since Tears sort of was doing that. I guess I felt we sort of needed a guy like this. Most apocalypse settings always have a guy who just seems like he shouldn't have survived. Don't worry too much about the M/F ratio, I'm not really expecting both my characters to get girls or even survive.

Name: Miles "Mac" McNamera
Age: 19
Height: 5'9"

Personality:
Mac is a kind and polite sort of guy who does his best to avoid any sort of confrontation. He prefers to take as few risks as possible and when given the option, would probably rather stay at home and play video games or watch movies than do something adventurous. While usually seen as intelligent when he applies himself, his apathy toward schoolwork has solidified him in a very average position academically. His general mood could be described as jittery, perhaps due to the immense amount of caffeine in his system at nearly all times, and under pressure he falters. Despite this, he's very loyal and would do things that would surprise even himself if a friend was in danger.

Biography: Mac's life is essentially the definition of small town. He rarely goes out of town and has only even left the state once for a class trip. He has no siblings and his parents have been divorced since he was a child. Instead he chooses to live exciting situations vicariously through games or movies, and even those can stress him out at times. Throughout High School he kept mostly the same circle of friends and while his wit kept him from simply being another nerd, he was no sports hero either (though he is an excellent swimmer).

After High School he continued to work at his job at a local video store before looking at colleges, due to having really no idea just what he plans on doing with his life. Currently still lives with his mother, but is finally in talks to move in with his girlfriend in Grand Rapids where she goes to Art School.

In addition to movies and games, Mac enjoys playing guitar, lazing about with friends and solving puzzles. Though his name is Miles, he hates being referred to by that.

Jeeze, I can only fit so many people inside me. I mean... um... yeah. Go ahead and jump in.

On lunch break from work so I probably won't have a post up until tonight.

I believe this would be the second time I´m applying for this game. The first time I got in, I think I played a female sheriff, or a hunter.

Or maybe they were different zombie RPs? I don´t remember clearly. I do remember the setting.

Anyway, if you have a place for me, I´d be glad to join. Maybe as a schoolboy, or as a waitress. I hardly ever use flesh-and-bones avatars, though, so I´d just post a description suspiciously similar to my current avatar and people can choose to imagine...

If I told you I fully intended to sneak in a reference to that movie, would you hold it against me?

That would depend on
1) which reference you were planning on making, and
2) what your definitions of "holding it against you" are.

Personally, I hope it would be something other than "You've got red on you." That one has been used too many times.

Goddamnit.

Well, maybe there is a rifle that doesn´t work in Kipper´s Tavern. I´m thinking of playing a waitress.

Character pictures, illustrated or otherwise, are entirely optional. Go ahead and roll up a character. We've a -ton- of people in this thread. And that's -fine- with me. A great aspect of the zombie theme is that a great part of the story itself is the chaos of it. There is no rule that claims we all have to wait for one another.

So go ahead, roll up a character, and jump in.

(PS. You weren't in any thread of mine! I've never had a zombie thread actually manifest itself before in the group format. :D )

I confess, my goal is to get at least a small group of us holed up somewhere after the initial chaos plays its way through town. Eventually, though, I imagine other decisions will have to be made.

I highly encourage a young waitress. There's a pretty solid portion of the players here that have characters near 30. Not so many, as of yet, who are closer to 20.

Ok, tell me how´s this.

Name: Paula Cortés Espinar

Height: 5´86

Weight: 128 lbs

Age: 23

Appearance: Paula is quite tall and slender, and has a wasp figure, with a flat stomach and nicely rounded hips. Her narrow shoulders lead down smoothly to her ample breasts. She could model for a magazine, no doubt. She is fair-skinned, too, which often breaks the Spanish stereotype for those who meet her for the first time. She cuts her dark hair short, a bit tomboyish, and has large, captivating brown eyes and a gentle smile. She is extremely attractive, so it is no wonder she works as a waitress at Kipper´s Tavern.

Personality:
Paula is extremely polite and helpful with people she perceives to be above her, like adults (she still considers herself a young girl) and people in positions of responsibility or authority, more than willing not to cause problems. With people at her level or below, she is very friendly and very open, but she does have a fairly caustic wit that might send mixed signals. In both cases, though, she is fairly self-loathing and rarely thinks someone is below her in anything, which makes her very humble. She also has the bad habit of distancing herself from problems, which makes her slow and awkward in situations she can´t run away from.

Biography:
Paula´s father, a high-ranking executive in a Spanish wine company, was offered an excellent paycheck in exchange for moving to North America to manage the company´s properties there, in severe need of a new administrator. The whole family moved to Detroit when Paula was fifteen years old, with predictable results on Paula, who was already at that time of her life when any teenager´s relationship with her parents is strained and awkward. That was probably what killed it, since from that time on Paula never communicated meaningfully with her parents again. The door to her room might as well have been an ocean.

That was when she was fifteen years old. Her father died of cancer two years ago, and her mother works as a school teacher in Detroit. Her older brothers are lawyers. Paula left for Royal Oaks to pursue her studies and be a little more free. Because she was not too close to her parents, she does not miss them too much and in fact enjoys a lot of independence (perhaps too much of it, judging by the usual state of the flat she lives in, ten minutes away from Kipper´s). She took up the job as waitress while she studied medicine and languages. She is fairly intelligent, but has no discipline for studying... or anything else. She likes videogames, movies, books, comics and roleplaying games too much, so she gets by on her studies although she could be an A+ student with just a bit more effort.

Paula is fairly popular as "that hot waitress at Kipper´s" among the youth, while her polite and generous attitude have endeared her to the older inhabitants of Royal Oaks, but her inability to empathize with her family has affected the way she deals with people. She loves the town and the people in it, but sometimes she feels extremely lonely, and even still a foreigner...

I think it's a pretty solid addition to the cast. For the Fourth of July, though, Kippers would most likely be providing the drinks and her job would be outside serving people gathering for the celebration.

:) Sound good?

Yeah! I was thinking her, in a tight, black short skirt, white blouse and black vest, with a red bow tie. Something abnormally high-class because, damn it, this is the fourth of July in a wine-producing town and we have to look our best for the tourists!

Every zombie story needs someone dressed inappropriately for survival.

Sorry it took me so long to get around to this, in the middle of moving to a new place.. yadda yadda.

So is there a particular type of character you are looking for? Perhaps a personality type that has yet to present itself? I'm just asking before I put a bio up as to help in any way that I can.

Lemme know either way. I'll try to hurry as best as I can. Thanks for the invitation and kind words on my meager writing abilities Ice. Much appreciated.

Posted!

In case anyone doesn't notice by the timing. Brandon will arrive around four-thirty PM local time, much after most of the stuff has already happened, so he won't make it to the winery most likely. If anyone needs to stop him, don't hesitate!

ps- gorillaz ftw!

I prefer to turn you guys loose, Soru. I will note for you that we don't actually have any cops, yet.

Well, here is my "current" character, unless Tears decides she wants a PC hubby. He's easy to drop, if needed, or he can be a nice secondary.

Name : Gary
Height : 6'
Age : 45

Appearance
Gary has had a hard life and it shows. His tanned face is lined and wrinkled slightly, showing signs of scrapes and bad treatment over a long time. His has a wiry build, lean but mostly muscle. His hands are calloused and have the same look as a mechanic's hands - full of scars, missing pieces and well worn down nails. His clothing is function, mismatched and well worn.

Personality
Gary is a broken man. He has been living it hard and rough for the last 20 years, relying on his own instincts, skills and knowledge. He doesn't care about people too much, unless someone helps him without any indication of getting something in return. Then, that person has won a friend for life, and beyond. He is a borderline alcoholic, the only thing stopping him is a shortage of funds to supply his habit.

History
Gary grew up in a middle class family, in a middle class suburb of a midwestern city. Gary joined the Army at 18. He was assigned to some low intensity conflict zone in a place that the alcohol successfully erased years ago. The end result of the tour of duty left Gary a shell of who he once was. One his return, he underwent a medical examination, and was discharged as unfit. With no one to look after him, and little prospect for further employment due to his mental condition, he found himself on the streets.

Gary did what he could to survive. He mugged people, did petty theft, performed questionable jobs for questionable people in order to get food or money. He has also done legit work when he could. He wanders from place to place, never staying anywhere for a lengthy period of time.

Special abilities.
Scrounging : Gary is used to finding his own supplies to fit his needs, as well as finding stuff for barter. While he might not know the true worth, but he will have a fair idea of it's uses.

Survival : He can live off the land well enough, be it Urban or Rural. Again, he can survive, not live in the lap of luxury.

Endurance : He can go long distances without tiring, and make the most of his food supplies if needed.

PG great post, and love the mention of the Winery. He sounds like a right wicked character and I love the pic you chose.

Hi M13..Love seeing you joining in!! Hugs.

Great reads all that have posted. And wonderful OOC's. Fab start .:rose::rose:
