I'm not sure you read the last few posts very well.
Which posts are you referring to? The posts in this thread?
I find rather than just bitching about what has gone wrong, I'd rather look at ways of trying to salvage things, and learn from the mistake. But, I agree, the whole splitting up of the group is not the most sane thing to do, unless you are deliberately wanting to kill off characters, or put them into high threat situations to serve a greater plot purpose.
So, how about we think of what to do to get things back on track. I have put a suggestion forward. If anyone has a better idea, then let us know.
The idea of splitting up characters was embraced for a purely mechanical reason. The thread is too prone to stalling if we are all in one place waiting on each other. Dividing us into smaller groups, in this case two, allows for some flexibility.
Is it unrealistic? Most likely.
Does it run contrary to most opinions of a strong survival option? Absolutely.
But when you are in a group thread, in my opinion, it is more constructive to focus on having fun and rolling with everyone's tilts instead of breaking down the story on an analytical level. I absolutely sympathize with the desire to do so. We're all writers here. We all tend to look at characters and their behaviors through that lens and say, "Why would they ever do that?" or "What's the reason or motive for that?".
I just think that there's still a lot of good going on. Keeping the story moving, in my opinion, should be on the forefront of our priorities. Realism, unfortunately, tends to get pushed quite a bit down in group threads.
Well you'll have to forgive me for being analytical then. Please keep in mind that this isn't me upset, just voicing my opinion. Please have your characters do whatever you want them to do.
The problem with the split here is the story will now only move for the people who left. This is preferable to not moving at all, but the people left behind are precisely that. Left behind. Said people aren't going to be able to make much of a story on their own as it is unlikely they'll also take off merely out of fear of leaving the place. The story for that half is now "Now we have to wait for Owen and Lara to get back." instead of everyone moving in a group which is typical for these types of things.
Granted this could be a good opportunity for character development chat, but these are pretty normal people who already sort of know each other (at least most of them) so I'm not sure how much content is there.

Not completely.
I was thinking of it as a "You go this way, we go that way, try to find help" Sort of thing.
And if it does come down to the Waiting for Return? We're in the middle of supply central. Restock, re-situate. Like I said, I do want to get Jessa to her father's media supplies; he's got a camera, communications and the like in the news van back at their house. Granted, that's a ways away from the actual town center where we are now... But c'mon, how many movies have them actually just settled into one spot and doing nothing? Even the people left behind when others go off to look for help end up wandering themselves. OK, true; not everyone usually survives that, but...
Eh.
Just my two cents anyway.
Alright, I think it´s about time for Paula to wake up from her hypothermia-induced lapse. Who is close by, that I may engage in parlay with them?
