Were-Hunter Prowl: IC

Delaney was sound asleep in a minute flat, so Carlos and Manuel decided to take their leave and step outside. As they sat outside the room, Kimi came walking down the hall, a very content air preceding her. She spoke to them for a bit, but they didn’t feel any need to reply, so they simply nodded when appropriate. As she shifted for and walked away, a mixture of her scent and Stephan’s wafted behind her. While this was curious to say the least, Carlos and Manuel figured that this probably wasn’t the first time Kimi and Stephan had been together.

An hour later, the Sun had risen fully, and with it, Jeff woke. He looked around to see both Delaney and Andrei sound asleep, so deciding to let them wake on their own, Jeff moved to get out of bed. As he stood up, he discovered that his leg had healed enough for him to limp around without need for support, but he still couldn’t put much weight on it. And with that, he headed out of the room to find Carlos and Manuel waiting for him. Together, the three of them headed downstairs to the kitchen to get breakfast.

When they walked Kimi and Stefan were in the kitchen. The older Katagaria was in his human form demolishing several large omelets a stack of pancakes sausage, bacon and ham. Kimi was working on a large animal legs, possibly a big horn sheep. She looked up from her meal to let out a small chuff and went back to eating. Stefan raised his glass as he said, "Good morning you three. Kimi is deciding to be rude this morning."

~I am not. I just decided not to waste energy turning back just to eat. Besides it tastes better this way~ Kimi made sure Jeff and the others heard her as she continued to eat. Stefan just reached out to tug at her tail, which made Kimi take a halfhearted swipe at him.

A few minutes later, Delaney walked into the kitchen like she had been living in the place for weeks, not less than 24 hours. Kimi was disgustingly working her way through a sheep's leg, and the smell of the blood made Delaney's stomach grumble audibly.

"Coffee", she mumbled towards no-one in particular. As she rummaged around the kitchen for a tray, she suddenly remembered her manners

"'Morning. You'll have to forgive me, but I haven't been in such fine company in a long while." As she twirled gracefully around the room, she stacked her tray with pancakes, bacon, sausages, omelette, a few croissants, some waffles, a bottle of maple syrup, a jug of orange juice, and a big pot of coffee. Grabbing some cutlery, cups and a plate that she precariously managed to balance on the now overflowing stack in her hands, she grumbled towards Kimi

"Did nobody teach you not to... umm ...play with your food? Anyways, if you have a few moments later, I'd like to talk to you. Please," she added almost as an afterthought.

And without waiting for the tiger's reply, she turned around, balanced her tray on one hand and, waving at the rest of the crowd, she pushed the door open with her shoulder and went out. Two seconds later, she walked back in, grabbed a second jug of coffee, added a few more bits of food to the tray, and again spoke to no-body in particular. "Hope you have IVs up in that infirmary, cause damn, I need this to hit me quick."

Upstairs, Andrei was surprisingly still asleep. Delaney plonked her overflowing tray on his bedside table, sat down on his bed, and poured herself a cup of coffee. She couldn't help staring at his yummy face. Even asleep, there was something powerful and menacing about the guy. Damn, just looking at him made her blood boil. Picking up a piece of bacon, she inhaled his amazing scent, and wondered at what kind of body he was hiding under that sheet he was wrapped in. She was just considering what kinds of trouble she'd be in for if she were to pull that sheet off him, use it to tie his hands to the bed, then proceed to enjoy her breakfast off his seemingly impressive abs, when his eyes opened and his arm shot out and instinctively grabbed hers.

"Hey, get your own food," she slapped his hand away from her and jerked off his bed. She turned her back on him, stifled a groan and quickly started to pile food onto the plate she'd brought up with her.

"Morning, Sleeping Beauty! Was starting to wonder if you'd be out cold for the day." Delaney moved away to sit on her own bed and mumbled in between shoveling food in her mouth. "Hope you appreciate this, Scooby, cause in 400 years, you're the first person, dead or alive, that I've ever brought breakfast in bed to."

As she poured a generous amount of maple syrup on top of her pancakes, Delaney couldn't help appreciating the sight of him all rumpled-looking and half-asleep.

Damn, Kimi had better be coming after me soon, before I do something really - really stupid.

As Jeff, Carlos, and Manuel walked into the kitchen, they saw Stephan sitting at a counter with a large amount of food in front of him, and Kimi the tiger chewing on a large drumstick.

"Good morning you three. Kimi is deciding to be rude this morning."

~I am not. I just decided not to waste energy turning back just to eat. Besides it tastes better this way~

“I’m sure it does,” replied Jeff, as he moved to take a seat across from Stephan. Carlos and Manuel instead went to collect food for themselves and Jeff.

As the two were-hunters set the food down in front of Jeff and took their own seats, Delaney walked in, looking rather like she needed a strong cup of coffee and a makeover. Delaney said a few things, mostly to Kimi, and then walked out with a huge pile of food and drink, enough for two were-hunters. Jeff got the feeling that she was taking food up to Andrei, although why exactly was beyond him.

“Wait…did she say ‘fine company’?” asked Jeff, a smile growing on his face. “Since when did Kimi rate ‘fine company’?”

~You know with that bad leg you do count as a wounded animal. And you are half hawk. i'm a feline. i'd only be doing what came natural~

"Kimi I must request you refrain from re injuring my paitent." Stefan sipped his drink, "At least outside of the bedroom," he added under his breath. This time she dip bat at him with her paw before walking off into the open pantry. When she came back out Kimi was dressed in a pair of jeans and black wife beater.

"Stefan if you weren't so good at what you do and four times my size I'd be tempted to actually try and pick a fight with you."

"I love you too Kimi." He watched as she walked over to Jeff and leaned down to talk to him.

"Buy me dinner sometime and you'll find out." She left the kitchen and headed for upstairs, leaving the men to their breakfast.

"If you want my advice Jeff, that you care I know, but if I were you I might not try and bite the hand of an offered friend quite so hard. Kimi likes it rough but not that rough."

Upstairs Kimi found Andrei and Delaney eating breakfast. "Well aren't you two cute, eating all by yourselves. Might make an animal think you two had something going on."

"You mean like you and Stefan?" Andrei said in between bites of food.

"Hardly. What we have is a nice arrangement built on years of friendship, trust and the need to keep me from going stir crazy."

"Hardly. What we have is a nice arrangement built on years of friendship, trust and the need to keep me from going stir crazy."

"And what we have," Delaney said when she managed to get a word in, throwing Andrei a murderous look, "is a kitty who's still hungry, extremely pissed off at the moment, and not squeamish about having dog-meat for seconds."

She polished off the last of her food, poured herself yet another cup of coffee, and asked Kimi "This Stephan guy anyone I should know about?"

"Stefan is our resident doctor and vegas' only dragon kattgaria or Arcadian. Not hard to miss 6'5 blue green eyes and hair down to his ass."

"He's also Kimi's..."

"Finish that though Andrei and I will test my theory about whether you can fly in human form."

"Fair enough," he held his hands up in surrender. Kimi walked over and stole a piece of bacon from his plate.

"So what is it that you wanted to talk about Delaney?"

"Got it. Tall, hairy, scaly, has your scent all over him."

Delaney walked over to Andrei and snatched the whole plate out of his hands.

"Down to business, though," she talked as she ate the rest of his food with her hands. She didn't think wolves liked their food being pawed by other animals, especially if that animal was feline. Normally she would never have been so disrespectful of another Were-Hunter, but this just went to show just how pissed off she was.

"Kimi, I need to stay here for a few days. Naturally, I don't expect you to do me any more favours than you already have. I'll be paying you for food and board and whatever else might be necessary. In return, I'll need a few weapons and a map or a guide around the city. I also need to get some new clothes. Quite frankly, I'm amazed you even found this pair of jeans to fit me", Delaney said, referring to her only 5 foot 3 inches frame.

"In the meantime, if there's anything I can help you with, all you have to do is tell me when and where and I'll be there. If not...stay out of my way. I've got Daimons to hunt."

"Good to hear and in that case you will have to go talk to that one's brother. I had already mentioned it all to him anyways. Plus Daimon hunting is KPC territory well that and Sin's. As for the clothes you wouldn't be the number of animals that show up in animal form and can't manifest clothes, so we keep plenty of loaners laying around."

She smiled over at Andrei, "And I am sure Andrei will be nice enough to play tour guide." The two tigers may have not been friends but in the round about way they were more than likely distant cousin and so Kimi planned to keep her out of trouble, for the most part.

"And don't let Andrei get you fooled. I've got no claim on Stephan other than the occasional week. While feather brains over here might not understand it because he's, male you know how much it hurts to go unsatisfied while in heat."

"Kimi I must request you refrain from re injuring my patient."

"Stefan if you weren't so good at what you do and four times my size I'd be tempted to actually try and pick a fight with you."

"I love you too Kimi."

"Buy me dinner sometime and you'll find out."

"If you want my advice Jeff, that you care I know, but if I were you I might not try and bite the hand of an offered friend quite so hard. Kimi likes it rough but not that rough."

Jeff watched the exchange take place, and then Kimi coming over and suggesting that he buy her dinner, and then Stephan offering some advice. All of this left Jeff a bit confused, not really knowing what had just happened.

So, having nothing to say, Jeff simply sat and ate in silence, after which he headed back upstairs.

"I am sure Andrei will be nice enough to play tour guide."

"Actually... I was going to ask Jeff if I could borrow his cousins for an hour or two to show me around."

Delaney studied Kimi as she spoke. Something in the Katagari's tone of voice, even her attitude and demeanor had changed a lot since yesterday. Maybe Kimi was warming up to Delaney's take-no-prisoners attitude. Maybe she had decided that Delaney posed no threat on her or the Sanctuary. Or maybe Kimi was simply trying to lull her into a false sense of security before she turned against her. Whatever it was, though, Delaney couldn't help enjoying this feeling that, for once in such a long time, there was somebody around that she could actually talk to.

"And don't let Andrei get you fooled. I've got no claim on Stephan other than the occasional week. While feather brains over here might not understand it because he's, male you know how much it hurts to go unsatisfied while in heat."

Delaney nodded understandingly at the other tigress. Yeah, she knew a thing or two about that kind of pain, all right. For years, she had been so terrified of accidentally ending up mated that she'd denied herself the pleasures only a warm male body could bring. In the end, though, the need had been too much, and she'd discovered that a good dose of indulgence now and again was not only healthy for her body, it also helped, at least for a little while, alleviate her loneliness.

"Thanks, Kimi. Now, is Jeff still in the kitchen?"

"He was, now he's on his way up here. This should be fun." She laughed and planted herself on one of the empty beds. Getting laid normally did put Kimi is a better mood and next week would be no different. Stretching she laid back and waited for Jeff to finally make it up the stairs. "Carlos and Manuel are good guys. They'll make sure you make it back in one piece."

"What should be fun?" Delaney asked, cocking an eyebrow in Kimi's direction.

"Carlos and Manuel are good guys. They'll make sure you make it back in one piece."

"It's daylight. Unless a bus decides to run us over, or they die with boredom while I'm shopping for new clothes, I think we should be OK. I don't need them to watch my back, just to show me the city, make idle conversation, carry my bags... I know, not a very dignified job, but there you have it." Delaney tried to make her statement sound casual enough, but the truth was, she still had that unwanted tessera problem and the two Arcadian Sentinels to contend with, and she wasn't about to tempt fate by going out without taking the necessary precautions.

"So, do you have a map of the city? I'd really like to know where we are right now."

Jeff walked into the room to find Andrei, Delaney, and Kimi all laying on beds, with Kimi looking content, Delaney impatient, and Andrei glaring daggers at Delaney. Jeff got a recap of the past few minutes from Andrei via mental conversation, and then Jeff understood why Andrei was glaring daggers at Delaney.

Jeff moved over to his bed and sat down on it, propping himself up against the wall. He then looked up at the clock to check the time, and then back at Andrei.

“Don’t you have somewhere to be, Andrei?” said Jeff. “And you too, Manuel?”

Both Andrei and Manuel looked up at the clock, and then realizing the time, promptly left.

Delaney resisted the urge to take off her boot and throw it at the fast closing door.

"You're welcome, you ungrateful whelp!" she growled under her breath. "And they wonder why I never do anything nice for anybody else." she said towards Kimi. Actually, Delaney had been rather surprised at her own act of kindness earlier that morning. Like she'd told Andrei, she'd definitely never done that for anybody before, not since she'd been 10 years old and herself and her sister had brought their parents breakfast in bed - rapidly cooling coffee sloshed over way-too-sticky blueberry pancakes and badly burnt sausages.

She tried to tell herself that she didn't care, but the fact that the only words he'd spoken to her in return had been to hint at Kimi and Stephan's relationship had really hurt her feelings. She'd turned to what she knew best - anger - and the look he'd thrown her just before leaving the room - like she was the one who'd done something wrong - had her seething.

OK, you probably shouldn't have played with his food like that
, she admitted to herself, but if she was fair about it... she was the one who had brought that food up to him anyways, so technically it was hers. There! she crossed her arms over her chest and focused her thoughts back to the present.

"Jeff, I need to borrow Carlos and Manuel for two or three hours. I need them to show me the layout of the city and help me get my bearings around here. I didn't want to ask them until I talked it over with you first."

"Jeff, I need to borrow Carlos and Manuel for two or three hours. I need them to show me the layout of the city and help me get my bearings around here. I didn't want to ask them until I talked it over with you first."

Jeff looked as if he was about to fall back to sleep, but when Delaney finished talking, he opened his eyes and glared at her.

“You need to borrow Carlos and Manuel for a few hours? Just like that? No ifs, ands, ors, or buts?” said Jeff incredulously.

“No,” Jeff said flatly, not in any mood to deal with a pushy attitude, especially from someone who expects to get something for nothing.

Kimi clapped her hand over mouth to keep from laughing. By interesting she meant, Jeff was going to be an ass and Delaney was either going to be a bitch or have to kiss ass. Kimi didn't bother sitting up she just turned her head, "Jeff, need I remind you about what and who are after Delaney? Carlos and Manuel can spare two or three hours to; one make sure she can get around the city BY HERSELF; two get her own clothes and three; take care of the apparent Daimon surge. That is unless of course you lovely boys want to be pulling extra hours, incurring MORE injuries and possibly losing men and their souls."

She did sit up at some point during her speech, "I don't like this any more than you do, but I guess its just the Arcadian in you oh wait its all Arcadian. You pride yourselves on being so human, but asked for help you can't be bothered. Believe me I do not want whats after her any where the fuck near me. You know how I feel about ANY male tiger. But if you won't help her fine. Get the fuck out my home and don't come back unless you need help. Delaney I'll see you down stairs in a bit."

The door practically bounced off the hinges as she slammed it behind her. Technically Jeff was not in need of sanctuary she didn't owe him anything.

Delaney stared at the door Kimi had just stormed out of like she was expecting it to sprout horns and start attacking her. She could not believe Kimi had just defended her in front of one of her friends.

"Boy", she glared at Jeff, "does this fucking attitude run in your family blood or what?"

"First of all", she said in a quiet voice, "you need to get that stick out of your scrawny backside before I decide to surgically remove it. Second, I do not - EVER - ask for anybody's permission, nor do I run my actions by anybody before I perform them. I have been fighting Daimons long before you were born, and nobody - not even once - has ever questioned my decisions and lived to tell the story. Third, out of courtesy for the fact that you're the leader of your little gang, I came down to ask you before I took them along with me."

Delaney took a deep breath to calm herself down and continued between clenched teeth.

"In light of the fact that you helped save my life last night, I will overlook your attitude today, but let me remind you that next time you disrespect me or question my decisions I will not be as understanding as I am right now."

"Now, I have a job to do and people to protect, and quite frankly, I don't have time to sit here and negotiate with you. So you will go after the tigress and apologise for your rudeness. I will take Carlos and Manuel with me, and return them to their duties in a few hours. If you still have a problem when we return, you can take it up with me then."

With that, Delaney turned her back to the Arcadian and went to find the tigress and the two Arcadians.

Jeff weathered the angered outbursts of the two hormonal tigers, simply writing it off as that neither of them really understood how businesses work. Jeff looked over to the corner that Carlos occupied, obviously a spot that allowed him to hide from Delaney.

“Go get them, or at least Delaney,” said Jeff. “And bring me a stiff drink as well, please.”

As Carlos slipped out the door in search Delaney, and if she was willing, Kimi, Jeff sighed and tried to relax.

By time Delaney came down stairs Kimi had cooled off a bit. Only a bit. Stefan had been replaced by Nikola who laying at his sister's feet eating another shank from the same animal Kimi had been feasting on earlier. The large male lion looked up when the door swung open and went back to eating when he saw it was Delaney. Kimi had slapped together a large roast beef sandwich and was working her way through it.

~You really shouldn't let him get to you Kimi. Remember you don't even like him.~

"That's not the point and you know it. Besides he probably is playing for your team as it is."

~Yeah like that's the last thing I need. I like my men a bit more meek~

Delaney took one look at Kimi's sandwhich and sighed her appreciation. She was just about to follow her example when Carlos came into the room, looking like he had a message he really didn't want to deliver.

"What now, Carlos? Say what you came here for and then please go find your brother and get ready to go. If it's OK with Kimi, we'll be leaving in about 20 minutes."

Carlos walked in to find Kimi eating a big sandwhich, Nikola gnawing on a bone, and Delaney as demanding as ever.

"Jeff would like to speak to you, senorita Delaney," said Carlos. "And you as well, senorita Kimi, if you are willing."

After he had finished speaking, he remained where he was, having no intention of going in search of Manuel. He intended to escort Delaney back upstairs.

Delaney finished making her sandwhich, looked over at Kimi to see what she was planning to do, then, shrugging her shoulders, she made her way back up the stairs. She really wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. Might as well get this over with. She found Jeff in the same spot he'd left him. Taking a big bite of her sandwhich, she stood there glaring at him.

"I've got a busy day, so make this quick."

Kimi finished her sandwich before heading up, more curious to hear what Jeff had to say than anything. Carlos was just in front of her as they made their way into the bedroom. Wiping mustard from the corner of her mouth she licked her thumb. Unlike Delaney she didn't feel the need to say anything. What she did feel however was the need to jump to the week after next. This is why she normally avoided Jeff at all cost when she was in heat. On one hand she wanted to jump his bones until he couldn't walk and on the other she wanted to just make a meal of him.

She could have had any number of males warming her bed but Kimi just liked her life as uncomplicated as she could keep it. Which is why she slept only with Stefan. Neither one of them wanted more from each other than what they got, plus Stefan was not in the mood to find a second mate.

Carlos grabbed a stiff drink for Jeff before following Delaney up the stairs and back to Jeff. Handing the shot of whiskey to Jeff, he moved back into his little hidden corner, mostly to avoid being between a possibly unstoppable force and a definitely unmovable object.

“I've got a busy day, so make this quick."

Jeff took the shot of whiskey and up-ended it into his mouth before answering, noticing, but paying no attention to, Kimi being present.

“Well, first off, if you had actually considered asking for my reasons for saying no, instead of displaying an extreme case of prima donna syndrome,” Jeff said, raising his hand to forestall any comment that Delaney would make. “We might have been able to reach an agreement.”

“So, now is your chance to be reasonable,” continued Jeff. “Otherwise, neither Carlos, Manuel, Andrei, I, nor the rest of the KPC shall have anything more to do with you. While we are in the neutral Red Room, we are technically in KPC territory, so it is in your best interest to cut the prima donna act and be reasonable.”
