art is dead. rock n' roll is dead. literature is dead. the cinema is dead.

so what do you have to offer instead?

No.

But you're wrong.

There is opportunity now that has never existed.

and might i add:

fagdom is dead. radicalism is dead. the drug culture is dead.

soon, i'll be dead and i'm glad. you deal with it.

What was the No 1 hit pop song on this date in 1950?

Answer: "Goodnight, Irene", by Gordon Jenkins and The Weavers.

Ha...I'll even take Bieber before that.

:p

that's not rock n' roll or even rock, altho leadbelly is cooler than shit. and bieber just credited his christian faith with pulling him back from the abyss. kill me.

I spent yesterday evening with 18y/os. They seem to be having fun. I quite liked some of the music. They're doing teenage better than my generation did.

Take your glasses off for a moment. What colour are they?

polanski fucked little girls, bergman was a dictator, fellini was a hedonist...and where are the cinema geniuses of today?

Most 18/19yo. haven’t lived long enough to make a substantial contribution to anything beyond the gene pool.

hindsight is always rose colored. do you honestly think in 50 years they're going to be saying 'now here's a great oldie by lil' wayne' and redoing it? the world is culturally bankrupt and the lowest common denominator is winning. mediocrity is always rewarded.

So...back in the "good old days"...music was epic, people had fun , and life was grand.

Everything now sucks, in your view.

Got it.

:cattail:

I think you're listening to the wrong music. That's nobody's fault but your own. The majority of music is always mediocre. We remember the rare few, and kid ourselves they were the norm.

You've turned confirmation bias into a personal ethos.

Very much agree with you on that.

Why do they have to offer you anything?
Each generation is different, has its own likes and dislikes and theirs is probably not yours, so what?
Why are you so special that everyone has to bow down to your way?
Why do you think you count?

Isn't pre judgment so much fun?

I was born WELL before 2000 and I can honestly say I prefer the music and movies that came after it, not before.
Some of the entertainment we had when I was growing up is just downright embarrassing to look back on.

I was born BEFORE the Space AGE.

I have watched all this crazy shit happen the warping of minds, the dumbing down of America (and not just the USA). The morals of generations of citizens sliding down the slippery slope of its all good, why should we care and it doesn't effect us.
As an old man I look around and think...Ya know those old preachers knew exactly what they were talking about.

I have some apologizing to do one fine day.

Things were taken more seriously when I was growing up. People do things today that people any were close to my age would have never considered...you just did not do it and it would never cross your mind to do some of teh wickedness none daily now.

But, people were nicer more willing to help strangers and each other.

The things we put up with this modern day...

Pop music =/= all music.

Right now is a golden era of music.

So you’re fast approaching the “get off my lawn” stage.

past that. now into 'in my day'. and yes, i walked to school.

Up hill both ways!

You mentioned directors...a little early for an 18 year old to make a mark but Tarantino is pretty auteur and has a foot fetish to boot.

Lots of good music out there. Go check out SoundCloud.

In my day we grew up different, every generation does and gets to the point where you’re at.

Cheers!

I was at an epic concert just last night. There is volumes of good music happening right now.

i once literally walked to school in a blizzard that was so bad my hair froze. sadly, i have no children to lord this fact over. also, that shit wouldn't happen these days because a few years later they changed the rules to close schools when the windchill is as cold as it was that day.

bastards.

also, protip, never avoid a shower until the last minute in the hopes that they'll close school because it really ups the chance that your hair will freeze into big, snowy dreads while you're walking against the wind in a blizzard.
