West Richland Tavern.

The day was long and brutal to Jack, a complete opposite from what he was hoping for. His meetings weren't the most enlightening and the two new recruits that got assigned to his section feel well below his expectations.

The good thing was that he had to ability to end his day somewhat early, though he hated doing that. As he pulled into the parking lot of the tavern he hoped that his night would fair a lot better. Jack knew better than to drown himself in his sorrows with booze. Hopefully he would be warmly welcomed he thought as he walked in and slowly made his way to the bar.

Alexa saw Jack's vehicle pull up as she waited for the other guy's gin and tonic and grinned. She hoped he was ready, 'cause she knew he wasn't expecting it.

Tess finished getting dressed with Eric's help and zipped up her knee high boots to complete her outfit before making the bed quickly and giving him a kiss goodbye before he headed back to work and she went downstairs.

There was a well dressed man hanging out by the bar and as Tess headed back to get her glass of water she saw Jack walk in.

"Hey, can I talk to you for a minute Jack?" She smiled easily and headed towards him after taking a sip of her water.

DJ stood up from behind the booth, before getting the lighting and music going. Now that the Tavern was open, he made sure everything was running right. Once he was sure everything was good to go, he moved over to the bar, getting a Dr. Pepper. He kept an eye on the slow trickle of customers that were filtering in.

Jack heard Tess's voice as he headed to the bar. "Sure you can, Tess," he said as he started heading towards her. "What's up?" he asked with a curious look on his face.

Rex set up the drink that Alexa had ordered and called to her to pick it up. He went back to inventorying the booze. He had used a computer at the library and find out it was important to know how much booze was sold by weighing the bottles so he had bought a tool to make the measurement and had started using it. He was also very conscious of his pour volume. He wanted Hannah to be profitable and he the food was good but a loss leader to get people in for the "ladies" and drinks.

Tess stepped close to him so they could talk without anyone really hearing what she said.

"Thanks for last night, I really appreciated everything you did for me. If you ever need anything from me, don't hesitate okay?" She smiled brightly and waited for his response.

Alexa smiled and thanked Rex before walking over to the young man dressed up and set the drink down. "There you go, sir, anything else?" she asked smiling brightly.

Jack smiled at her as she spoke, offering him her thanks. "No problem," replied Jack. "I do appreciate the offer and I'm sure that I'll take you up on it sometime soon. However, I don't want special treatment, such as discounts, for it," he added.

He moved part of her hair back and gently kissed her forehead. "So how did everyone enjoy their lunch / dinner today?" Jack inquired.

Tess laughed a little at his reaction, "You always touch my hair, you know that? Lunch was great by the way, thank you for that too."

Rex saw Jack across the tavern and called to him "Hey Jack, you want a long neck or something else?"

"Your welcome," Jack said. "You always have part of your hair covering that pretty face of yours, it's kind of a shame that you try hiding some of it," he said smoothly.

There was a small bit of conflict that Jack was dealing with since he had promised Tess that he would take care of her, however, at the same time he was also craving Alexa. It didn't help that Alexa did tease him a bit with the texts today, though he was a bit saddened that she didn't tease him with a pic of her outfit beforehand.

"If you'll pardon me, Tess, I would like to get a drink," he said as he stepped back some. "Same as yesterday, Rex," Jack called out towards the bar.

Rex popped the tops off two Bud long necks and took them to Jack. "Here you more than paid for these two already. Enjoy them, we have plenty!"

Rex returned to the bar, picking up some used glasses on the way back.

Jack decided to sit in one of the booths as Rex brought him his drinks. "Thank you, Rex," Jack stated as he pulled out a five and gave it to him as a tip. He caught Alexa out of the corner of his eye and winked at her as she was sitting at the bar. He started to drink his first bottle as he tried to unwind from his day.

Alexa smiled as she saw Jack wink at her. Leaving her other customer, promising to be back, she walked over to Jack. "Hey there," she said. "Enjoy your meetings?"

"Thanks honey,"Tess smiled at his answer and moved away to see if there was anyone in her section as he walked away.

It was still empty so she went back over to the bar and leaned back against it, surveying the Tavern in it's entirety. She felt ready to get back in the game tonight and hoped it would be busy.

Jack leaned back some as Alexa came over to him. "They were eventful, but not in the promising way I was hoping for," admitted Jack. "Sadly the boss thinks he knows what's best, when he doesn't," Jack said as he looked over her outfit.

Alexa smiled sympathetically. "I understand. Sorry I didn't send you that text, figured you would. . .enjoy the surprise."

"So Tess, Eric seems pretty interested in you." Rex smirked as he continued "He is a nice looking guy, I can see why you would lead him on."

Tess turned around to face Rex, who was again talking about something he had no idea about.

"Who says I'm leading him on?"

It was obvious by her tone she was offended and slightly pissed he had made his flippant comment.

"It is a very lovely surprise," Jack said in an admiring tone. "Definitely a positive from today's surprises." Jack looked over at the bar and waved to Tess. "Tess, can you bring a water over to Alexa, please?" he asked since no one that worked at the bar drank while on the clock.

"Well it looks to me like you are leading him around like a puppy. But that's just my observation. I have no idea what you do when you are alone with him." Rex continued. "He just seems to follow you around with longing looks."

"You're right Rex, you have no idea what we do when we're alone," Tess retorted sarcastically.

She walked around the bar to fill up a water per Jack's request, which she thought was stupid. Alexa is a waitress, not a customer. He shouldn't have been asking anyone to get her anything, she was supposed to be working in Tess' opinion. She brushed it off and decided it wasn't worth making a comment over.

"I just don't think you have any idea how to really treat a woman, so i'm sure it looks strange to you seeing him actually talking to me instead of just acting like a pervert," she tossed another insult at him before heading over to Jack's table and putting the water down without a word.

"Thank you, Tess," Jack said. "Please, have a seat," he offered. It was still fairly early and Kari and DeeDee were still helping out.

Jack knew that the chances of this playing out in his favor were not that great, but he knew the reward would be worth it. Besides, what fun was life if there were chances taken.

Alexa smiled and took a few sips of water. "I really should be working, Jack," she said. "Your day may've ended, but mine has just begun." She winked.
