Pinned threads, or stickied threads, stay on the front page. Generally because the forum moderator believes that they contain useful information that people need to know, or will find useful to know. Over in the Authors' Hangout my threads on "A place to discuss the craft of writing" and "Self-editing for authors" have been stickied, and in the Editor's Forum a thread that links to the "Self-editing for authors thread".At the top of each forum I looked at are a few threads that are colored blue. What does that signify?
Yes, that's true. One problem with stickied threads is that people tend to ignore them: often they contain forum rules, or news updates from seven years ago. They just become part of the background that people scroll past to see the current topics of discussion.
