What are you fuckers reading now?

People that turn down the corners of books should be pilloried in Trafalgar Square.
Agreed. Or lick their fingers when turning the page. And over cracking the spine. And putting drinks on the book. Or leaving face down open.

This South of Forgiveness is really well written. She has a gift of description for the incidental and mundane and beautiful that's the back drop to her journey. Weird. That the book could be beautiful too but I think that's the point.

What's also unsettling are the triangle imprints of its previous reader marking the pages. Maybe they were tired or busy because I flashed past two paper ears and I wonder what they thought too and who they were.
It's arrived! Gonna start it later.

You are not going to believe this. I bought it secondhand and tons of the pages are turned down!

Jeanette Winterson, Lighthousekeeping. Not sure it has turned down pages but it came complete with a lending library page with stamps going back to 2008 and the last 2021. Fascinating social history. I'm not too bothered as I imagine most of its previous readers were women of ill repute.
It forced me to look up the author's life story. wow. Rags to riches

I love Winterson.

"Malibu Rising" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is very easy entertaining book, so no need to use my brain to think and overthink again.
Other than books i like a lot gambling in the different casinos, like this one for example https://bestcasinoplay.ca/online-slots/free-slots-no-download/. It is even more fun if i can do it together with the couple of friends/girlfriends.

^^^ That was a good read but far too many spiders for me.

Next is The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue.

Just discovered Chris Pavone's "Kate Moore" series. It's excellent, especially book 2. Hopefully more to come.
Book 1: The Expats
Book 2: The Paris Diversion

Just ordered Beth Mead's biography, mainly because it was cut price but also because she just buggered her ACL and I thought I'd cheer her up. I'm editing my second Women's footie filth story for Lit so I can consider it important research. Also girl-crush fanfic. SO?!

The Winterson book is easy read (Lighthousekeeping)

Tearing my way through Karin Slaughter’s books. They all need trigger warnings, but if you like to read extremely dark psychological thrillers, her books may be for you.

Just got my copy of Beth Mead's book, already reduced. Blatant girl crush fanfic so I'm gonna love it
