What are you fuckers reading now?

Just finished listening to Bad Blood by John Carreyrou. Searching for my next audiobook now.

I'm working my way through the Aubrey Maturin novels again. Up to The Far Side of the World so far, which is one of the two books the Russell Crowe flick was based on.

I re-read them during the lock-down. That series is one of my favorites.

They're brilliantly written. Not just the action and sailing parts but the dialogue is wonderful.

Talking of sailing have you watched The North Water? Lots of Stephen Graham stuff lately which is always good.

Going to watch Help later with him and Jodie Comer. Supposed to be excellent but harrowing covid drama.

O’Brian’s word choices truly are brilliant.

Re-reading Dune ahead of the movie release.

If I'm not mistaken that's Lou Gherig's disease. There's an excellent 1942 film called The Pride of the Yankees with Gary Cooper that is definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it. Sigh. And no more Jack Caffery. Apparently she has one more novel coming out posthumously in 2022, set in an alternate reality. I think it was written under a different pen name. It'll be interesting to see how much, and how well, she deviates from her usual genre.

I saw that, I really wish it was a Jack Caffrey one. Might be brill though, Nanking is my favourite of hers.

Did you know she used to be a topless model!

Lou Gherigs Disease is ALS.

The Women of Troy by Pat Barker. Slowish start but after about 25 pages I started to get into it. She is very good, has an ability to whack some of my basic assumptions way into the long grass,

I can hardly believe this is the first book of hers that I have read. The boss has told me I have to read the 'Regeneration' books next. I will.

I sometimes think I was born reading. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a book in my hands, my head lost to the world around me.

C S Lewis 'That Hideous Strength' (challenge read from the Adored One); George Tomline 'Elements of Christian Theology' (work) as is Gustaf Aulen's 'Systematic Theology.' There seems to be a severe smut shortage at the moment!

Just finished 'Coal Black Mornings' by Brett Anderson of Suede [London Suede in the US] and about to start 'The Bell Jar' by Synthia Plath. I know, I know. I should have read that a long, long time ago.

After fifteen years they've finally sorted out John M Ford's literary estate and Tor are going to publish his entire back catalogue plus some previously unpublished stuff. To celebrate I'm going to re-read my thirty year old copy of The Dragon Waiting. It's a work of utter genius, as is most of Ford's stuff. I highly recommend you check it out.

I just picked up the Devil of Nanking..

I’ve never read anything by Mo Hayder so I’m looking forward to reading this.

Rabbits by Terry Miles. I am about to begin anyways. Just finished listening to the podcast and enjoyed it.

Fata, if I'm already in a dark space, is this a good or bad time to tackle "A Little Life"?

This book is difficult to put down.

I started Docile by K.M. Szpara, it’s frightening.
