No I haven't, but mostly because I'm a little intimidated by it. This coming from someone who reads a huge variety of genres.

I am, as well. I got through it once, after several attempts. My Dad swore by Tolkien. I can’t read him without thinking of my Dad. He read everything only once, unlike me. I like to revisit books. He said that the didn’t have enough time, and there were so many books.
Miss him.

That's a special bond that you share with him - even to this very day.

Perhaps my feelings are halfway between you and him? I normally say exactly that: there isn't enough time to read everything I want, so why go back and re-read. Except, for me, there are certain books that are special enough, or magical/spiritual/life changing enough, that I will revisit and re-read.
